2015 MLB Season - Can the Cubs FINALLY win the World Series? (LOL NO)

Nobody knows what their plans are. You can regurgitate what the media is playing up, or have your own opinion, but you really have no idea what Cubs management is thinking.

On the plus side, 2 straight come from behind wins for the Cubs. That's something that has been missing for a long time.

Hopefully Lester's spring training is officially over now and he can get down to business in start #3.

Two 2 run HR's from Soler, plus that arm. He's right where he needs to be.

I love how ol' Billy looks worn out after trotting around the bases.

So, uh ... the Red Sox figured out how to beat the shift.

Ian Desmond has 5 errors in seven games. Nice.

The Mets Phillies game was so weird tonight.

Same thing Johnny Damon did with the Yankees once (World Series? at least playoffs). If they shift that far, and you're stealing 2nd, just keep going. No one is covering 3rd...

He looked out at 3rd.

agree looks close, but can't tell from this angle. imagine replay from other angles was used to help. Pitcher either got him, or the glove was short (towards the plate) of him when the swipe was made. Hard to say from here.

General note, but like how the Sox' offense is doing so well. And against very good starting pitching. Going to make the mediocre pitching look much better if they can sustain it. Still probably need to pick up a frontline starter if they want a long playoff run, but should be a beast in the regular season if this is how they are treating Aces. Plenty of time to figure that out, though.

I read a stat yesterday, and I can't remember where, that Aaron Harang has been the only starter to get through Six innings against the Red Sox this year.

Granted it's only 8 games so far, but seeing as how they have faced Strausburg, Tanaka, Zimmerman, and Hamels so far this season, that's pretty impressive.

Early yet, so the innings thing may not be all that meaningful. Nice if they go longer, but April games tend to have the starters still building stamina.

the nice part is that the Sox offense has been hanging 7-8 runs a game against those big name starters. Not to say that it will continue, but hitting in cold weather is usually also a bit slow to come around, so to be putting up big numbers against high level pitchers is a nice sign. And makes pitching a lot easier, as they've been getting spotted 4-5 run leads on a regular basis, so can pitch to contact and get out of there. Makes them look better than they probably are, but sure they aren't complaining.

At some point, may be some internal drama, though. Offense may notice that they're being expected to hang big numbers if they want to win, so hopefully doesn't crack things internally. But if they can keep it going, may provide the spark to go get a rental Ace at the deadline and make a big run at the rings.

Got to love it, ARod has 4 RBIs yesterday. A home run the other day that puts him closer to passing Willie Mays and being paid a 6 million bonus and he currently has the highest batting average on the team. Go ARod!!!!!

The Yanks are going to fight paying him that bonus. Glad George is gone. He may be rolling over in his grave though. I believe he would pay his debts.
Friday, the News reported that the Yankees would not declare the accomplishment as a “milestone,” which in their mind would annul the marketing agreement between the two parties.

What a strange game that was at Citi Field last night...

Jose Reyes left tonight's game with an oblique strain.

The New York Mets, hottest team in the majors won their 5th straight tonight and took sole possession of first place. While I'm under no illusions that this will continue, just enjoying it so far.

Cubs are calling up Kris Bryant, literally the day they gain a cheap seventh year of service. I'm not sure a team has ever been so nakedly transparent about its intentions.

Yep, he sure needed that time in the minors to work on his outfield defense. Oh, wait, he didn't take a single practice rep or play an inning in the outfield in Iowa. So much for being sent to the minors for baseball reasons.

I guess Mike Olt had the most important hairline fracture in Cubs history or something.
