Mets gonna acquire Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson from the Braves. Mets are sending two minor league right handers, Rob Whalen and John Gant.

I think this speaks volumes about the Mets.

Wait...what?

Cole Hamels has just no-hit the Cubs.

The Cubs are so not ready for prime-time if they can lose two in a row to the fu¢&ing Phillies, Hamels or not.

They're still at a point they should be beating bad teams.

I know they're a ways away from challenging the Cards for division supremacy.

ARod has hit three home runs tonight and the Mets are beating up the Dodgers 15-2 with 20 hits. A good night for New York baseball.

After A-Rod's third homer, that was the sound of thousands of Twins fans shutting the hell up.

And just as many Yankees fans cheering the man they just spent the last year and a half completely trashing. And would STILL be trashing if he hadn't come back strong. Still another couple years on the contract, pretty sure you'll turn on him again before it's all said and done, because he's not going to make it easy and retire...

^ Hey, don't look at me. I never had a problem with A-Rod.

The Cubs are getting their asses handed to them by the Phillies.

And David Ross just became the only Cubs "pitcher" to not give up any runs.

Schwarber had a put out in LF and the world didn't end.
Coghlan was at 1B for the other 2 put outs from Russell.

ETA: It was Russell at SS.

^I'd like to see Schwarber have to dive for a ball. Would he cause an earthquake when he hits the ground?

I think they've reached the 'character building' part of the season.

(I hope)

He's not Mo Vaughn levels of fat (yet).

Multiple beat writers are saying the Dodgers and the Rangers are leading the Hamels sweepstakes, as their assets line up the best with the Phillies' needs (OF, 1B, SS). Hamels' list of teams he'll accept a trade to is Los Angeles, Texas, the Cubs, both New York teams, Washington, Atlanta, St. Louis and San Diego. Right now, the Dodgers definitely have the pieces to make a deal work, especially in light of the proposals that have leaked out. The Cubs offering Castro (who has negative value right now) and Baez is just hilarious, and apparently the Yankees dangled Gary Sanchez and Jake Cave.

If league GMs think dealing with Gillick and MacPhail is like hitting "force computer to accept trade" in a video game, they've got something else coming.

I won't be upset if the Cubs do nothing at this point, unless they get Price in a sign & trade.

Otherwise, they can probably land Price next year and give up nothing but money.

I'm not sure what any pitcher can do for them with the offense being so anemic and unless they can get higher than a one game playoff, it would be a waste of a trade.
