2011 NFL Season - A New Game

That said, until they run into a defense that can seriously stop Rodgers / Jennings / Finley / Driver, they're going to keep on running wild.
Problem is finding a defense that can actually do that... in the same game.

The Texans are the #1 seed at this point. I still find that bizarre.

That's because no one can beat the Hot Tub Team.

I have to say, I'm rooting for Leinart to succeed. That would be a great story for him, and for the Texans.

Okay, I just can't hate Tebow anymore. It's just awesome how he keeps finding ways to win, no matter how ugly it might be.

I am stunned. I have never seen an offense be soo good at looking terrible for most of the game and then exploding at the end. It's maddening.

I've posted here previously that I didn't expect to win too many games with Tebow this season and that I thought we were playing for the future to see what we had. But going 4-1 as a starter? No fucking way. Taking Denver out of a 1-11 road slump to 3 straight. Being over .500 after playing more than two games for the first time since late 2009. Winning 3 straight games for the first time since early 2009. The defense did an awesome job tonight keeping the game close, and Tebow once again turned the offense on in the 11th hour for the W. So thrilled.

So.... how's this for beating a "real team"?!?

That shot of Rex Ryan after Tebow's touchdown was priceless! For the first time in a very long time it's exciting to watch the Broncos again.
Von Miller and Elvis Dumerville are studs, and Champ Bailey's presence on the field alone limits the other team's offensive abilities.

Vonn Miller is a bad ass of the first order, it's sad that what he's accomplished in his rookie season has been overshadowed by THE TEBOW. What's he have, 10 sacks already? He got 1.5 last night.

More greatness from Drew:

I'm not a Broncs fan, nor a Jets hater.... but I get a kick out of this win last night. In fact, I am so sick (as are most football fans I am sure) of the scandals of late that I won't mind at all if the Broncos and Tebow keep winning. I know it can't last, but man, I am enjoying the refocusing on happier things these days.

I've always had a closet football boner for the Broncos. My dad worked for a company based in Boulder for many years and always brought me Broncos/Rockies/Nuggets stuff growing up.

As for the Jets, I hope they go lick some feet.

Listening to the post game last night, Tebow is just so damn humble and well spoken it's getting harder to dislike him. He wants to be a role model, wants to do better every practice and every game, and when he talked about building a hospital in the Phillipines as being more important than winning a football game, damn.

I let my 7 year old watch the highlights this morning before leaving for school. He's in his first year of playing flag football. When they showed the final touchdown, he asked me, "Daddy, why didn't 33 contain?"

I still don't think he's a long term solution at quarterback, but he does have the heart and fire to compete.

^ I think it boils down to how anal we are about what a "real" quarterback is supposed to be.

To me it's like the lead-off hitter. I feel it's an overrated concept, the #1 hitter is only guaranteed to lead off once. He's just as likely to hit third in any given inning.

Well, it's really because that kickass defense has been able to keep things close enough to give that crappy offense at least a small chance of scoring enough points to win.

^^ The defense has really come a long way since the beginning of the season for sure, they were talking about that on the radio today and because of the strike a lot of defensive players were lost on the defensive strategy since they had no off season prep. One way to test that assumption is to let Orton start and see what happens, but he is the most boring QB out there. I enjoy Tebow's enthusiasm and the randomness of what happens when he takes a snap.
