2011 MLB Season Discussion

Nice to see the Giants on a bit of a streak, but when Giullermo Mota is a better pitcher than Berry Zito, something is wrong. I'm not happy Zito is hurt, but we don't lose much if he does go on the DL.

Buster Posey though is starting to get hot and that's great to see.

To be fair, the weird spacial problems don't necessarily favor the Red Sox. It could happen to either team. I'm not sure what they could do anyway, short of moving the wall.

I don't find it any more stupid than having baseballs lost in the ivy at Wrigley Field like it's a Wiffleball game.
I sort of like things like that. It's quirks like this that make baseball (especially the old stadiums) special. With every stadium being different the unexpected can always happen

Red Sox win two in a row!

They're .500 over their last eight games. Hopefully they take the series from the Jays tomorrow, and head out West with a three-game streak.

Rockies are now 12-3. I know this won't last since we've been playing teams like the Pirates, Mets, and Cubs, but for a team that starts soooooo slow, it's awesome not starting the season in 4th place for a change.
That said, Troy Tulowitzki is a freakin' stud!

Well the game's not over but it's 8-0 at the top of the 7th and I'm fairly confident in declaring that the Jays have totally shit the bed in this series against the Sox. Just getting outplayed all over the place. It's difficult to watch. I'll be glad when this largely abysmal road trip is over.

Yep, looks like the Sox are finally getting in gear. Not that we didn't know that the Sox were a little better than the little league team that appeared to be run out there the first week or so.

And as for that strange foul line? Not sure what you really do there. Looks retarded from the angle you show, but from the plate those ARE the right places. Realistically, the wall should have gone another foot before starting to turn in RF, I guess, but not sure what else to say. Strange geometry is strange?

Loving the current game?

Although it's interesting that ESPN cut to the Giants-Rockies game just in time to watch Tim Lincecum give up a hit. This is apparently the second potential no-hitter blown when ESPN cut to the game.

I know one happened last year when they cut to the Yankees game where Phil Hughes almost threw a perfect game. Five seconds after the cut he gives up a hit :borg:

The Red Sox are heading out West with a three-game winning streak. Daisuke Matsuzaka looked excellent with a seven-inning, one-hit performance. Jed Lowrie had another great day at the plate, and Carl Crawford finally got a hit (which will hopefully get him going)!

Good day. :techman:

I wish they wouldn't keep cutting away like that. The viewer tunes in to watch one specific game. Run the scores at the bottom of the screen if they must, but that should be the end of it. IMHO.

That being said, anyone watch their coverage of Sunday night's game? Top of the 4th inning and all of a sudden WHOOSH! The sky just opens up and everyone - broadcasters and audience alike - starts freaking out. It was raining so hard (I believe it was also hailing at one point), I can't believe the umps didn't halt the game... And it was nice to see Joba make a good defensive play like that. Again. :)

I was worried they were going to keep with the Giants if Lincecum kept shutting down hitters. Then again, with the end result, maybe it would have been better to stick with the Giants.

^^ Wow, the McCourt's have really jacked up that franchise. Of course as a Rockies fan, I'm ok with that.

There's probably still a few butthurt members of The Greatest Generation around that wouldn't mind a team in Brooklyn. Food for thought ;)

There's been nobody in Dodger Stadium for this series. I know the Lakers are playing and all that... but geez.

Are the Dodgers really in danger of getting moved elsewhere? I just can't imagine them leaving Los Angeles. Of course, I'm sure everybody said the same thing about them before they left Brooklyn.
