2011 MLB Season Discussion

With all these conditional rooting interests, let me clarify that I'm only rooting for the Phillies.

You can watch baseball without needing to root for a team, you know.

I really hope Epstein doesn't leave, but I can see the appeal in moving on and trying to rebuild another historically inept franchise.

If Epstein were to build the teams that broke the Curse of the Bambino and the Curse of the Billy Goat, he'd basically be revered as one of the greatest general managers in history, behind only Branch Rickey.

Is Epstein out, or even at the end of his contract?

It seems more likely for Cashman to go to the Cubs, if only because he's a "free agent".

I'm rooting for the Brewers. I was hoping for a Twins-Brewers World Series, but even though the Twins season was a shambles, I can still hope for the other half.

In the AL, I'm rooting for Detroit, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Rays make it.

That's going to be me if Detroit doesn't make it. It's been a long time since the Brewers have made it this far. I love to see underdog teams make it in.

Go Cards! NLDS is tied! :techman:

Also, apparently Tim McCarver is going to be on medical leave for the first two games of the ALCS. To be replaced by...Terry Francona.

I don't know what's wrong with Tim, and I sure don't wish him ill, but I am just going to hazard a guess that Tito will be a much better broadcaster that McCarver is. Then again, so would the squirrel that ran across Busch Stadium's home plate tonight.

As mind-boggling as I find McCarver's commentary to often be, I hope it's nothing serious and that he gets well soon. I'm looking forward to hearing Francona, though.

Way to go, Ryan Roberts! 4th Grand Slam for the DBacks in the last four home games. Second one by Roberts.

NLDS now tied at two and Kennedy is looking for revenge....Friday's game is going to be interesting! :techman:

I grew up watching the Mets and listening to McCarver. His long winded anecdotal stories about his playing career nearly did me in. Hope he is ok though.

Francona is the flavor of the week right now, smart of Fox to snatch him up.

Philadelphia's collective asshole must be puckering like mad right now.

A "minor" heart procedure.

Yeah, seriously. Anything where they open up my ticker is not minor.

Robin Ventura, who has no coaching or managerial experience outside of a bit of work at a high school and was hired last year as the "special advisor to the director of player development," is the new manager of the Chicago White Sox.

This is ... interesting.
