2011 MLB Season Discussion

They should have had Justin Upton in there. If nothing else, the hometown kid would have gotten the crowd going.

Robinson Cano and Adrian Gonzalez put on a pretty good show, though.

So which Joe Buck screwup is worse?

Flubbing the AL introductions (announcing Felix Hernandez's name when the camera is clearly on Miguel Cabrera), or making up a quote from Willie Mays that does not, in fact, exist? Linky

I know the game was pretty boring and all, but isn't it the announcer's job to keep the viewers interested despite that? Holy crap. The game was already dull as hell, but once you add Buck's lifeless commentary on top of it... :brickwall:

Well to be fair, Buck was sick for awhile with some kind of nerve damage that affected his throat, and that is why he sounded even duller than usual at first. Linky

Karstens with a complete game shutout for the Buccos, while the Brewers and Cards lose! The Pirates move into the division lead!:eek::eek:

Been away for a few days... lots of ground to cover.

Go NL. How about those Braves pitchers? Jurrjens, Venters, and Kimbrel owned it. Gotta give props to Roy Halladay too. Seeing him pitch to Brian McCann was pretty cool. Tim Lincecum making the All-Star game.... geez. Bruce Bochy is all of a sudden somewhat of a villain in sports now. I've got no problem with him dragging Vogelsong along... but a sub .500 pitcher? Really? At least he didn't actually pitch. That would have been an eye roller.

Braves win their 10,000th game. John Scheurholz, the president, gets out on the field and says the Braves are the third team to do that after the Cubs and the Giants. Somebody forgot to include the Dodgers and the Cardinals... oh well.

Mets deal K-Rod, let the fire sale begin.

I'll go on the record by saying deal Reyes. His value will never be higher, but he's too mercurial and often injured for my liking. But when he's on...wow.

Trading Beltran could get some decent parts in return as well.

They've got some decent young players coming up through the system, and are looking to slash payroll. As a fan I'm content to wait a year or two to let them develop.

(rubs eyes) - I must still be asleep. The Pirates are in first place.... AFTER the All-Star break?!?

Stop the train I want to get off

Anyone still up watching this Sunday Night Baseball Game? It's crazy, but I honestly hope it goes for another two hours or so. Love marathon games.
