(2011)-2012 NBA Season

AAAAaaaaawwwwww, Metta World Elbow was on Conan and I missed him? :( :(

Shit. He needs to fess up that he succumbed to an angry impulse and did it in the heat of the moment. In answer to gblew's question, the decibel level of boos will threaten to blow the roof off of Chesapeake Arena. Metta is not beloved here. Not one iota. Lots of joking around on sports radio on the most creative way to welcome MWE to town. But we kid, we kid......maybe.

I expect the Lakers' to win the Nuggets series, of course, but if you could drop the game tonight so Perk's hip will have an extra day or two to rest and recuperate, I'd be ever so grateful. No damage to the joint. No tears to any ligaments, praise be. It's just a tricky thing when that muscle right there is strained really badly. Perk needs to be able to pivot laterally when he gets in Bynum and Gasol's way like the good, mellow shy little boy he is. He was held out of practice today and is receiving treatment on it regularly with proper stretching, massage, heat therapy and rest. Day to day, officially, but it's looking good. Should be a great series.

Some columnist dude on Bleacher Report wrote a column on why the Lakers are going to sweep the Thunder this series. Apparently he was serious. Even the Lakers' fans were saying, "Dude, they took 2 games from us 2 years ago when they were much worse and we were better--let me have some of what you're smoking." If he'd written a column about how the Lakers might win the series--fine. If he'd mentioned Perk's tender hip, that might have made sense. But he thinks the brooms are imminent and didn't cite Perk's hip pain as a reason. Apparently the Thunder sucks and I never noticed. :alienblush:

I'm not sure anyone can beat the Spurs. The Spurs could methodically, calmly take Miami apart. Everyone in the media ignores them. It's a mistake.

EDIT--Thank you, Denver. I thank you. Perk's hip thanks you, too. :D

Andrew showing his inexperience again. In his part of the NBA, close out games have been kinda easy but that doesn't mean they all will be -- and you especially don't say it publicly. He also made a statement about putting pressure on teams in close out games causing teams to fold. That is also true but again, you don't say this to reporters. I was dumbstruck when I read these quotes. Where's Metta's elbow when you really need it?

Speaking of Met, this is the only silver lining from losing that game -- his suspension will end in the first round. If the Lakers advance, this will be very important.

Yeah, Bynum needs to learn to keep his fried baloney hole shut.

Hell, I'm hoping Brooks did what Karl's assistant did, editing Bynum's comments on to the end of a Nuggets' team film in practice--only he can use Metta's joking around on Conan about Harden's beard running into him and still denying he did anything wrong. Talk about motivation for the Thunder.

Sixers beat a team they should beat (post injury) so they can lose against a team they should lose against.

So.....how will Perkins match up against Faried and Mosgov? Inquiring minds need to know. Bynum and Gasol are pathetic. Kobe has a case of the shits and vomits and he out hustles them? 7 footers are useless if they can't move.

The last two games make me think that the Lakers just want to hang it up for the season and have BBQs and drink beer. They seem not to give a shit about winning that's for sure.

They say on the radio that the team trainer's implying that Perk's finally getting a full range of motion back in his hip today without a lot of pain. It's still a little tender, but much, much better than it was even 2 days ago. The break until Monday will be exactly what it needs.

:techman: Thunder up. We have to find a way to beat those Nuggets. Of course if thursday night's Lakers team ends up joining us for the 2nd round, all the better. It's already in the bag if that happens. Wish San Antonio would capitulate like LA, but no such luck. :(

You know... I've never been a Kobe fan, but I really feel for him. Times are all too frequent when it seems he is the only one dedicated to winning. To give all that effort only to have your team flounder....

I don't like Kobe either, but he was the only one giving maximum effort last night. Of all the not so nice things he is, he's definitely not a quitter. Bynum really needs to grow the hell up, and Gasol's just soft. Metta World Peace to fill the gap, I guess. He'll be back.

No, they just got bitten by the injury bug to the two players they could least afford to have hampered. It's a shame, though. To get that close and then have it slip away is a fate I hope my team avoids. They may still win game 7. It's not over yet. It depends on how bad Paul's hip is. All of a sudden I'm very, very glad the Thunder got over a week off after Perkins hurt his hip. If the Clippers win, the way the schedule is all whack, they might get 3 or 4 days off to rest, or am I not correct?

Since 2000, four Lakers teams (including the current one) have allowed teams they have gone up 3-1 against to tie the series and force a game 7. Two of the times the Lakers won game 7 were at Staples against lower seeds. The one loss was in Phoenix against a higher seed. There is no way the Lakers should lose this game 7 today against the Nuggs. If it does happen though, Mike Brown and his staff may need to go into hiding in So. Cal.

BTW, interestingly, 2 of the 4 previous times the Lakers have allowed teams to force a game 7 after leading 3-1, the Lakers went on to win championships.

Yep, Gasol had a perfectly ghastly outing in game 6, but for those of you who are calling him soft, consider; he has been a key player on teams that have gone to the Finals 3 times and has 2 rings. Maybe your favorite player, whoever he might, should get a little "soft". :D

LeBron wins his third MVP. He is getting dangerously close to Steve Nash territory in terms of being overrated. He has got to be at least a little embarrassed.

Dorian, what is with Harden's beard? Is he a hipster?

No, he's just a weirdo.

Shouldn't Chris Paul have won the MVP? If you're talking valuable to a team there's none more. He singlehandedly turned the Clippers mindset around from being total losers.

Come to us in Oklahoma City Monday night, Lakers. James and company eagerly await your arrival. Most eagerly. Hope you didn't get too tuckered out. James will loan you some ear plugs, Metta.
