200th Fan Art Challenge – WIP : "Star Trek: 2079"

kay, I am going with "Star Trek: 2079" as my setting. Two reasons, one is that is the setting of the trial from Encounter at Farpoint. Secondly, if the Narada went back in time by about the same number of years it did the first time, the wreckage of the ship would appear in about 2079. And so, here is the rough idea.

This is very rough. But gives an idea. I wanted to tie Enterprise, TNG, and Star Trek (2009) together. Various ships might be around in 2079. The SS Valiant type, the SS Conestoga type, DY-500, DY-100 and others. But this ship from the opening credits of Enterprise might be one as well.

Not sure how to tie in the gray uniform guys and that Kangaroo court in yet. Might take more than one panel.

I did F up. I calculated the time jump from 2387 to 2233. Which is 154 years. 2233 - 154 is 2079, but the Narada went thru that time vortex in 2258, not 2233. So that would be 2104. Obviously it doesnt have to be 154 years back, but 2079 wouldnt be it. That's a detail, but an important one for the setting. I'll work on that.

Nice! The Blueprints Database at the Cygnus-X1 site should have a copy of the Spaceflight Chronology as i recall, down in the Tech Manuals section, but it has a chronology for the DY series with art by Rich Sternbach for 3 of them if you want references to work off of.
Either way you're off to a great start so far! I am looking forward to your progress and the design's evolution!

Don't let the details get in the way of your story. The real writers don't. Continuity doesn't matter...

This is a great idea! And I agree with @Shawnster - include what you want in your piece and work out the continuity later (I couldn't even begin to try and explain how all the characters and ships came together in my piece :rommie:).
Your DY500(ish) is looking good!

Thanks! Yes, I did end up looking at various designs. DY-500s and variants, 750s and many others. I decided on saying that this ship is a DY-550 variant. Also that that means that each ship has that as it's registry. DY-550, DY-551, DY-552, etc. This one being the Polaris, DY-551.

Yeah, I decided to handwave any of those concerns here.

Thank you! Our story here is that the very first "Jupiter Station" is under construction. UES Polaris is loaded up with supplies and crew members for the station. En route, the time portal thingamabob opens up, and out pours the shattered debris of the Narada, and the Jellyfish.

This creates a problem. The wreckage contains humanoid remains that are very similar to Vulcans, and a second smaller ship (the Jellyfish) has markings identifying it as Vulcan. The Vulcans of 2079 want to take possession of the wreckage. But they are in United Earth space. Thus begins a difficult standoff with Vulcan authorities (who know from the markings and bio readings, that these are Romulans, but do not want UE govt authorities to know that).

Meanwhile, some factions on Earth that remain outside of UE government (and are responsible for those Courts we saw in Encounter at Farpoint) had agents aboard the Polaris. They are posing as Jupiter Station crew. But when the wreckage appears, their plan changes. It is soon apparent that the wreckage contains radically advanced technology. Far beyond even that of the 2079 Vulcans. Stealing that tech and sabotaging the Jupiter mission are their new priorities.

Sounds good. I can see this DY being nuclear salt water rocket (NSWR) propelled. That big nozzle could take it. Have a chomper Starship eat the Jellyfish bits.

A clear schemer…I can see right through…

Very much so! In this story, she is who Q was cosplaying as: the Chief Judge and High Magister, Daria Lexan. She led one of the largest and most powerful "factions" before, during and after WW3. She was an infamous figure of this era.

She leads the Magisterium, which is a religions-political-military organization and movement. At the head are the Magisters and Judges of the Order of the Black Falcon, of which she is Chief. The military wing includes the elite Knights of the Black Falcon, and the less elite infantry. Those are the guys who take addictive, performance enhancing drugs and who are seen in Encounter at Farpoint.

In the "Prime" timeline, she and the Magisterium are overthrown by UE forces and UE govt-backed rebels, and she is tried for crimes against humanity. But the emergence of the wreckage from the 23rd/24th Century may set Earth history on a different course.
