2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Halloween.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

I don't think there's been a really good ToH since the one with Jerry Springer in it, when Maggie is the daughter of Kang.

None of them beat Hom3r though. When that first aired here I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. 3D Simpsons! And it gave us the Frinkahedron!

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

I love the Simpsons Hallowe'ens. These days the Simpsons plots are unified, which I don't like. I have never been more disappointed with a premiere than last week's. If I want continuous throw away Hollywood references, I'll watch The Family Guy, thanks very much.

The Simps were in their prime with A plots and B plots, and the B plots were always way funnier. To cite an example: Homer's Japanese soap packaging character. Plot A was some boring shit with Marge and the church.

But the Hallowe'en ones are consistently good every year. IMHO.

I actually enjoyed the A plot of that episode, where we learn that years of dealing with Ned Flanders had disillusioned Reverand Lovejoy to the point he no longer cared. But I do agree that the Mr. Sparkle subplot was pure gold.

I'm one of those people who is still a fan but feels the show isn't that great anymore.
Same here. I am still a huge fan of the first decade of the show, but when I catch episodes from the more recent seasons I always end up thinking, "It's just not the same nowadays." I miss the days when the episode plots were meant to be stories, and not just excuses to string jokes together.

Also, the original audience grows and changes a bit after ten years. Tastes change. Ten years is a long time.

People just joining the series a few years ago probably like it as much as those who started watching when the show debuted.

Well, I'm glad to hear this. ^^ I remember the ToH all the way back to the beginning. And I love them.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

I remember one time it actually aired on Halloween.
Maybe next year as Halloween will again fall on a Sunday??
one can only hope, they don't air ir after Halloween.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

Yeah, imagine if they aired the Hallowe'en episode on Hallowe'en sometime. The world would stop rotating.

This isn't exactly a minority opinion, nor has it been one for probably eight or nine years, now.

:rolleyes:Even at it's worst it is better than 90% of what else is one and far better than anything else in it's time slot.

^ that's how I always felt about Star Trek when it was on, no matter how bad it was, how many shuttles crashed and xenophobic bumpy forehead aliens were on Voyager and Archer was getting tied up and beaten up by *everyone* for the first half of Enterprise.

It. Is. Better. Than all the other crap.

That's why I watch shows on DVD. I don't have to watch any crappy shows in any timeslot.

Since I am not doing anything else when it's on that's when I watch it. I also watch episodes via Hulu.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

I'm sorry, but I stopped watching this show a few years ago. They keep repeating themselves, and it's showing in the ratings as well. It needs to be put to rest already.

Agreed.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

In response to that "1989/2009" image, for what it's worth, last night's episode definitely portrayed Bart in "brat with a heart" mode, showing him feeling bad about getting Mrs. Krabappel fired and trying to help her get back on her feet, and then ultimately choosing to do the right thing to fix it. It wasn't as good as in the show's heyday, but it shows the characters still have some humanity in them, at least in some episodes.

And the thing that bugs me about that image is that it doesn't reflect the considerable changes in appearance and art style between 1989 and 2009. The modern character designs are much more slick, streamlined, and prettified than they were originally.

That's what happens when everything else is crap.

That said, I'm with the group that thinks it's long overstayed it's welcome. Kind of like Smallville.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

After watching the recent episode of Simpsons (Bart getting Krabappel fired) I have mixed feelings. Yes, the episode was genuinely funny, but the story has already been done. Really, it kind of reminded me of when he got Skinner fired. But they still managed to get some pretty damn good jokes in like Homer chasing Santa's Little Helper around the yard, spraying him with the hose. "Now I'll be doggy, and you be daddy." Homer then runs around naked with the dog chasing him in his clothes, spraying him with the hose.

Re: 2009 Simpsons Halloween episode will actually come BEFORE Hallowee

I liked Ned ordering something, Bart not really understanding and just giving him a banana.

The Skinner disappearing and the rabbit in the chair.

I'm still gonna suggest they age the characters, even fast foward to Bart and Lisa's teen years like they did in a few episodes. That would ultimately lead to the end, but...

^ I just read an interview that Al Jean did with Morgan Spurlock (of course I read it on IMDB so grain of salt) where he pretty much says Fox has a deal in place with Matt Groenig and the production company that as long as the Simpsons producers want to keep going Fox will renew them.

It doesn't mean it has to, but it does give the writers fresh material to work with, Bart & Lisa, the middle school years
