20 Years ago at a videostore near you...

With it being the 20th Anniversary year and all, I just thought a few here would like to see this blast from the past.

It's a promo trailer which appeared on videocassette. It cropped up on a number of CIC tapes during '87 including top rentals like Top Gun and The Voyage Home.

It's short but enjoy.

Ah, so it is.

Serves me right for being so pleased with myself about finding it on an old tape. :p

It'll probably get pulled soon anyhow...

I still have a copy of that on the VHS copy of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home which I purchashed back in 1987.

me too. Did they play the trailer when TVH was in the theater or just on the VHS?

I remember that commercial playing on TV as well. It had me jazzed up and glued to every new episode of TNG.

My local station played that promo right before the premiere of Encounter at Farpoint... and I never saw it again until today.

Awesome find for me! :P

I'd forgotten how dire Worf's forehead was in Season 1.

You got that right.

Thanks for posting that ChristopherPike , brings back old memories.

The way he says "Yar" makes me giggle, like he's thinking, "Man, this is fucking stupid, but the water bill isn't going to pay itself."

Same here, only it was my mom who bought Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, not me.

:D

Thanks everyone.

It got me thinking about seeing TNG for the first time. For some weird reason, I recall the episodes being stitched together in movie format on video. Strange since they weren't any two-parters to begin with. But presumably that means prints exist with no credits running over the first few scenes of episodes.

LOL - they hadn't already figured out all the soundeffects yet. The door and beaming sounds in this promo are different from the one used in the actual series.

I love the intro of the characters. Medical Officer Crusher and her brilliant son...Data, an android...Security Officer Yar...Geordi, a man with unusual vision.

I remember this well. When I saw it before i watched the tape for the first time, I nearly fell out of my chair! Ah happy times!

RAMA

This must have been made before they finished a lot of the effects, seeing as how they used a lot of shots from the movies.

btw, RAMA, how did you get that picture of my torso, and whose head did you attach to it? Gotta love that photoshop.
