The bottom line is that 12OCH was being broadcast into millions of homes when Trek was scored. Would've been a simple enough matter for Courage to have been "inspired" by it.

I just watched all 70 plus episodes. The incidental music in question was in almost every season 2 episode, very rare season one, and non-existant season 3 (possibly since season 3 of 12oh and season 1 Star Trek were concurrent.)
