11th Doctor & Jack- speculation only but children of earth spoilers

Just wondering. Given how dark and brooding the post Torchwood Jack now is, and given that Moffat loves timey wimey stuff (tm) and invented the character, would it be beyond the realms of possibility for the 11th Doctor to meet a pre The Empty Child Jack?

Jack does have 2 years of his memory missing from his time as a Time Agent after all...how ironic if they were taken as a result of him interacting with a future incarnation of the Doctor. I can almost see smith patting an unconcious Jack on the head. "So many things I could tell you, old friend. But I can't"

What do people think? Silly idea of fiendishly clever?

fiendishly clever?

Absolutely man! That's a brilliant idea for a story. If Barrowman can pull off said younger, non-immortal Jack, then it would be a great story... :techman:

Whatever happens, I'd love to see Captain Jack with the 11th Doctor. Meeting a third incarnation would really cement his status as the modern equivalent of the Brigadier, in my opinion.

I think he probably could. They don't have to make him look that much younger, sure with the wonders of television they can do it. And if not...well...

Time Agent X- "Hey Jack, aren't you due your next Rejuvination treatment?"

Jack. "I'll get round to it!"

Agreed! :techman: As long as Nick Courtney gets in there again at some point...

Wouldn't Sarah Jane be more ahead than Jack (and equal to the brig) traveling with the 3rd and 4th Docs and meeeting 1, 2 and 5 (briefly) in the Five Doctors and then recently 10. The brigader meet 1,2,3,4,5 & 7 as i recall.

I think it's more the military-ish friend who he knows always has his back, but your point is well taken...

The Brigadier did not meet the First Doctor (but Courtney did play a character in The Daleks' Master Plan). However, the Sixth Doctor did meet the Brigadier in Dimensions in Time. If we include audio plays, he's also met the Eighth Doctor, as well as the Sixth Doctor (if you don't want to count DImensions in Time).

Nobody wants to count Dimensions in Time...

Brilliant idea, Starkers! I've long awaited for Moffat to explore Jack's missing two years and what better way than what you just described?

Yeah all I have to do now is get the idea to Moffat...that shouldn't be too difficult, right?

I doubt Moffat will have forgotten the 2 year thing, but he might have figured too long has passed to adress it now?

Re: 11th Doctor & Jack- speculation only but children of earth spoiler

The Brigadier did not meet the First Doctor ...

Didn't he at least see him on screen in the Three Doctors? Or did they miss each other? My memories gone fuzzy on the details.

Re: 11th Doctor & Jack- speculation only but children of earth spoiler

The end of the Torchwood mini-series set Jack free for Moffatt to do what he wishes with his character again. It was pretty much the entire point of it, it seemed.

That said, I think its humorous that a few of you are actually clamoring for a reset-button episode. Which is what it would pretty much be if it involved a past incarnation of Jack. The very reset-button episodes so many people constantly complain about...

Re: 11th Doctor & Jack- speculation only but children of earth spoiler

Not really. Rather it's a unique way of exploring a well known character's past. Just because we see that version of Jack in such a story doesn't preclude seeing "present day" Jack from then on.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure RTD actually created Captain Jack not Moffat but then he asked Moffat to introduce him in his two parter. The character concept/background/story arc was RTD's idea I believe.

I'm not looking for a reset, I just think it would be a neat way to resolve the issue of the two missing years. I have no major objection to the post TW Jack showing up on Who, but he does now come with a lot of baggage thats all.

You might be right, but I'm pretty sure it was Moffat who came up with the notion of the 2 missing years.
