10 years ago this month... ENTERPRISE first arrived on TV

One of two Enterprise videos I'm hoping to do in celebration.

If I don't get chance to complete the second, at least there's this.

Theme song is performed by a female vocalist, originally heard here.

There's a much bigger anniversary tomorrow... Star Trek hitting 45.

Hey Christopher, I'm definitely looking forward to scopin' out that vid but I'm at a place where I can't have the sound on just yet. I'll let you know what I think ASAP!

Cheers everyone. Jeff. Jinx. Melancholy comes with the territory, I'm afraid. I'll have to try upbeat with my next video. Probably end up drifting into metal and one of those singers still angry at his Dad though. More my taste. ;)

I was thinking of putting earlier season clips to the full length Russell Watson version. Maybe great moments episode-by-episode. Is that too predictable though?

Only about 4 years old for me. I got started late.

Nic video. Thanks for putting in the work.

I can't believe that it's been ten years, or that we let it slip away with only four seasons.

I did what little I could to keep it going. Of course I wish there was so much more I could have done. I remember the feeling of relief from finding out the show would have a fourth season. I just wish it got one more. I know the old "one more" is a bit of a recurring exclamation among fans of just about anything, from Civilization to cigarettes. But I genuinely believe (and have always believed) that a fifth season would have given us all a much greater sense of completion than a fourth. Much greater.

Five seasons is something of a standard-issue for a lot of somewhat-serialized shows, especially nowadays. There are plenty of good sci-fi pieces that got five years. It would also tie in (albeit irrelevantly) with Kirk's five-year mission. Seeing Archer's rather diverse five-year happenings sounds cool, not that I wouldn't have preferred seven.

But you know, despite all that I'm still somewhat pleased. Knowing that the show might not have even gotten that fourth year, biting my nails everyday for updates on the situation. I was there for the Farscape and Firefly campaigns too and even though none of those victories were absolute or even irrefutably ours there was still a great sense of accomplishment when the limited good news came in.

For Farscape it was the miniseries. For Firefly, the movie. And for Enterprise? Why, a whole 'nother season. And damn, what a season it was.

And if that last bit doesn't make ya feel a bit better, think of it this way -- so many shows these days are ending with 60 or 70 episodes in the pocket. Enterprise was just two shy from a hundred.

I'm more than half-way through my second, different, longer but faster video. I'm trying to make it an overview of Enterprise. Maybe that's too ambitious, since I've only got "Broken Bow" in there and a dash of "The Andorian Incident"... Just the unpredictable way marrying lyrics to clips is going. My next task to try and include some clips to represent the Xindi mission. Then get through the other side of that, with more optimism from the final year.

Anyhow, barring something catastrophic happening to my PC, it's getting there... (crosses fingers)

Re: 10 years ago TODAY... ENTERPRISE first arrived on TV

Hoping to get this celebratory video I've been working on, up later tonight. Glitches in it are a pain in the ass and probably won't be able to fix all of them - but you'll be able to get the idea when you see it.

They'll be footage of all the big landmark episodes (fingers crossed). Although much of it will fly by a quite a fast rate and often each as a themed splitscreen. The middle section might have most people sticking their fingers in their ears. There's an Archer flashback thing going on too.

I'll leave you with this teaser about the opening...

It's Movie Night on the Enterprise. Care to guess what's showing? ;)

In honor of today being the 10th anniversary of the Enterprise premiere, members of the Delphic Expanse are hosting a live chat and rewatch of "Broken Bow" tonight at 9pm EDT. You'll need to supply your own means of watching the episode -- DVD, streaming from Netflix, whatever. Basically what happens is, everyone cues up the episode, meets in the chatroom, the chat leader (usually Honeybee) posts PLAY...we all push play at the same time, and watch the episode together as we relive fond memories or notice new things about the show.

Everyone's invited! You don't have to be a member of the Expanse to join our chats. The more the merrier! (Just a heads up: we treat our chatroom as an extension of our forum, so our rules are in effect during the chat. http://www.thedelphicexpanse.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3295)

Join us tonight at 9pm EDT here: http://tinychat.com/thedelphicexpanse

Hope to see you there! :bolian:

Seems like only yesterday. I remember the uproar here on the BBS when Sisko's name was mysteriously left out. LOL

I'm sorry I missed the "Broken Bow" viewing party. Only got just got online. Been using all my processing power on rendering and web browsing is sluggish as a result. I've actually been watching it again this evening. Followed after by "Similitude", which might well be my favourite episode.

Here's some of that video I've been promising. Hope you enjoy.

Still finishing the rest of it, but I expect I'll have the full version by tomorrow afternoon now.

ETA: Here tiz!

The chat was a great time! I'm sorry you didn't make it. :(

Tomorrow, we resume our regular schedule with "Precious Cargo" at 8pm EDT. As always, everyone's welcome. We generally do them Tuesdays, but there are occasionally alternate chat viewings scheduled for the weekends. Stop by if you get a chance!
