1 unforgivable flaw of this series: the 80s hair metal theme song

I saw the thread title and thought I was on the TNG forum. That is where you find 80's hair and 80's make-up. I think that is why TNG looks much more dated than ENT.

Metal theme song? Wasn't that the version on youtube with the song from Rage. I liked that, even if it was parody.

I can't stand that damn song either. It gives me douche-chills every time. I have to fast forward through it whenever I watch Enterprise. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons the show didn't do so well was because of that damn song. Season 4 of ENT was one of my favorites of all ST series. It's a shame it didn't go further. The show suffered the same set backs that all ST series were subjected to, that the first three seasons were bunk. Don't get me wrong there were great episodes in the first three seasons of each series but on a whole the writers seemed to struggle. I suppose it takes time to warm up and give the characters direction.

I drank too much coffee today. Back to work.

Last week we watched Twilight and when the theme song came on we sang it in LOUD booming voices like Klingon opera. Except for the falsetto part of course.

Every casual trek fan I have introduced enterprise to has hated the theme or made fun of it relentlessly. Which is only about 5 or 6 people, but still, it was unanimous. I have no doubt it hurt the show's popularity. Of course, that was FAR from it's biggest problems. It could have been a massive success despite the theme if it didn't have other, far more significant, problems.

^A theme song/tune of any TV show can be dire, but it would be very shallow to not watch a show because of it's theme. My TV has a wonderful function it's called mute, and if I am watching it on my DVR, I can fast forward.

But as you say it had far bigger problems that hurt it's popularity, and a theme song alone shouldn't matter in the long run.

So what are the great and dreadful TV theme tunes/songs?

I never understood the hate for the opening. I'm critical of Enterprise on so many levels, but I liked the opening music sequence. Though I find it amusing that the people critical of it alternate between calling it rock and country.

Sure it's not the random space orchestra background music, but rather a bold change and really captured the essence of the show, being the first people out there in my opinion.

If only the show had delivered better.
