1/350 Enterprise Composites

[Mark 2000]

I just finished building this monster and have detailed most of the work over at hobbytalk.com. I've done some composite shots of the model and I didn't want to let the hobbytalk folks have all the fun.

The obligatory planet orbit shot from the opening credits.

Nice! I don't know what it is about your pics, but these composites look (to me) very close to a production shot!

Headed toward Andromeda in "By Any Other Name". Wanted to give that lonely feeling with a tiny galaxy instead of the one the Remastered used that filled half the screen.



Following Yonada in "For the World is Hollow...". The asteroid is a b/w picture of Phobos I colorized yellow, green, and purple to match the psychedelia of the original.

Nice! I don't know what it is about your pics, but these composites look (to me) very close to a production shot!

Thanks, BJ. I tried very hard to get the same angle in these as on the show. Of course, the model itself is proportionally identical to the studio prop thanks to the efforts of folks like Gary Kerr.

I think she looks very realistic in these images. You really get the sense of a large size ship.

The Galileo 7 about to be launched into the Murasaki Quasar.



The Enterprise trapped in the "Tholian Web". The web was pretty easy to make. I created a selection in the shape of the grid and filled it with dark orange. I then expanded the selection out a few pixels and started painting with a yellow splatter brush. I then used the same brush shape as an eraser to delete the darker portions. Add a glow and some noise and you're done.



And the final one I've done so far, the Hand of Apollo which is actually the hand of me. I'm looking for ideas for more pictures.
