1/2500 Star Trek Enterprise 1701-C

Hey, all...

I was wondering if anyone else here has seen the new AMT/ERTL 1/2500 Star Trek Enterprise 1701-C kit? I saw it at my local hobby store, and picked one up... the packaging is quite unique, as you can see. The box indicates that a 1701-D is available, and I hope to find that one as well. Below are some pics of the box, and what you get inside.

I don't think so, FalTorPan... the new "series" of kits (according to the insets on the back of my model's box), are four in number... 1 kit for the 1701-C, 1 kit for the 1701-D, and 1 kit for the 1701-E. The 4th kit includes the 1701, 1701-A, and 1701-B, all within that same kit.

As I said... I'd love to find a copy of the 1701-D to buy locally.

Yes - AMT (aka Round 2) broke up the old 1/2500 space ship sets.

The TOS E, TMP E and Ent-B are in one set:

The Ent C is by itself:

And so are the Ent D:

And E kits:

To me, this packaging actually makes some sense and would be more convenient for 'kitbashers'...

The one I got was a snap together of the original Enterprise. They had both, (glue non glue) but I went with the non-glue because, well, I suck at making models. In fact, my wife put the one I bought together. It's actually pretty cool and its on my desk next to my XMAS ornament. The XMAS ornament looks like a baby enterprise next to it.

...oh. And I wish they'd do something like what I suggested once, years ago, when i sent playco a letter. Just release a box off all kinds of nacells, saucer sections, mid sections...and let us make our own creations...

BUT...they also include some completely reworked decals. The 1701-D can actually come out looking decent now (excluding aftermarket stuff that has been and will continue to be available).
