1/1000 Scale Enterprise Refit?

USS Jack Riley

All:

I recently came across an advertisement for a 1/1000 scale model of the refit Enterprise by Polar Lights. I though they only made a 1/350 scale version of the refit. Is the advtisement correct or is it assuming that the Klingon D-7 and original USS Enterprise were at 1/1000 scale, therefore the refit is at 1/1000 scale?

Anyone know of this particular scale by Polar Lights for the refit?

This is a brand new kit in 1/1000, about a foot long. It has three sheets of decals with full aztec patterns for the whole ship. It's a snap-kit, but it's the best engineered snap kit I've ever seen. It goes together almost seamlessly. If you want to glue it, you can, and there will be very little need for seam filling.

I ordered two of the kits last week. They should arrive at my house some time this week on next. One to build and one to save for a rainy day in the future.

Forbin, how many did you get? A dozen or two? ;)

He bought a gross. The tractor trailer truck should be arriving by the end of the month.

1/1000 is great, I don't have much room where I am now and except for a few favs most of my models were taken to the pistol range last december.

I bet they enjoyed that. You should take them to the zoo one day soon, that's a good day out too.

Got 5 from SSM, and I'll get another 5 when my LHS gets them in.

I've already fucked one up, slammed it into the garbage can and poured thinner on it. :klingon:

Half the fun of Ent-A and Ent-D kits was sitting for hours painting the Aztec patterns on. Where's the fun in decals?

Thank you all very much. I am starting to get some free time and want to get back into the hobby (I had to hold off because I didn't think it wise to have model glue in close proximity to my 4 year old - call me crazy).

I wasn't aware of this scale for the refit. I know the TOS version was in 1/1000 scale (I have a few). I will definitely grab a few of these for the original refit and the "A" version (and a few bashes as well).

Not sure aboput the aztec decals. The ones I have seen tend to be a bit dark and over emphasize the detail for my test. Plus, where is the self immolation involved in using decals instead of painting it? ;)

Forbin - thanks for the site. I am familiar with that site, but hadn't checked it in a while. I will check it now and see if the prices are better.

Thanks again all.

Edit - To quote Frank Barrone from "Everybody Loves Raymond" (Peter Boyle) -
"Holy Crap!!" It is almost $10 cheaper there than the "bargain" price I saw. I especially like the battle damaged decals. Guess I'll have to buy another one for that as well.
