    Hello!

For around 8 years now I have been working on a personal project to build 1:1 Star Trek ships in Minecraft. I was inspired to do so after my dad took me to see Into Darkness in 2013. This was my first experience of Trek and I immediately fell in love with the universe and concept of these awesome and beautifully designed starships exploring the universe. I have since seen all of the prime-timeline movies and not quite all the series' but I hope to one day watch them all :).

Despite all the negative criticism about them, the ships in the Kelvin Timeline have my favourite aesthetic and I wish we got the chance to see more designs from that universe. (I really hope Star Trek 4 gets made, but right now it's not looking likely D:) So, these are the ships I have focused on building for now and one day I hope to expand to some prime-timeline ships. I have taken a lot of creative liberty in building these so they are definitely not 100% canon accurate, but I don't care too much about that as it's more fun than stressing about making them EXACTLY like they are seen on screen.

Anyway, ramble out of the way, here are some renders of a few of the ships I have made so far. If people like them I am more than willing to add to this post, I have built around 25 ships in total. (The last ship in this list is a non-canon, hybrid ship combining what I think are the best parts of the Enterprise and the Enterprise-A. It's what I think the Enterprise should have looked like in 09, I still do like the design we got but it could be better.)

    Those look amazing!!

as someone playing Minecraft I can appreciate the amount of work that went into this, even when built in Creative and with tools like world edit etc.

    are you using modded blocks?
I can’t think of blocks that have these distinctive blue glowing hues.

and the shaders used look pretty sick.

All the ship exteriors are built using vanilla albeit with a custom resource pack. However, I have attempted a few interior areas that use modded blocks :)

I didn't use shaders for those pictures, I rendered them using a 3rd-party program called Chunky. I'm glad you like them c:

Wow, the effort into building this is quite something. And they look spot on! Great work!

Great work! For those of us who haven't built anything in Minecraft, can you give us an idea of how many blocks go into one of these ships and/or a ballpark of how much time it takes? I imagine it's a lot of both! You must go through a ton of pickaxes! ;)

Well I do all of my projects in creative mode and I utilise 3d models and in-game mods such as 'WorldEdit' to help me create the ship shapes. However, all of the fine details and colouring I have to do mostly by hand and the time it takes to do this varies depending on the size of the ship and my motivation level. If I am well motivated I can finish a medium-sized ship in around 2 days, but usually each ship takes around 1-2 weeks from start to finish. However, when I start adding interiors it takes way longer :P

What‘s most impressive, is that these ships barely have any straight lines anywhere.
Getting the curves exactly right is one of the most difficult things I imagine.
