Why are you judging beings with totally different psychological makeups using human standards?
Take this to its logical conclusion. What if Sam was actually a 200-year old synth, who had the body of a 9-year old girl (and was played by a 9-year old actor). Would you be cool with seeing her in a relationship with say Darem in this case? I mean, they're both consenting adults within universe, after all.

Honestly, it’s just something that makes me very uncomfortable as a viewer and human being. Creating a sentient being that’s sexually available but only days/weeks/months old is creepy as fuck and basically pedophilic wish fulfillment. I get that the idea is that Sam’s programmed to be a seventeen year old, but I’m dubious as to how believable it is that it’s possible to “program” life experience, emotional, cognitive and sexual maturation, including identity, desire, and relationships. Adolescence is not something you can just upload into someone’s brain or memory; it’s something a being has to live through. And that’s a human standard, yes. What other standard should I as a human viewer have?

The words she used are: “I left a starship on the edge of creation to be with her.” That’s a reference to the Progenitors storyline in Discovery’s season five, isn’t it? I don’t have that season super clear in my memory: Did we ever see Reno actively leave the ship? I don’t think we did, or did we?
It’s cool to know that she met Lura during that time and they became an item. Retroactively that might explain why we seemed to see less and less of her on Discovery.
Legit looking forward to the inevitable incoming tidal wave of Reno and Lura fanfic; Lura's one of those characters with such an obvious well-defined voice that it's gold for fanfic writers.
Again I have to ask about The Doctor during Voyager. He's a very young in "years" but seems to be programmed as a middle-aged curmudgeon,

Yeah, I know. And I think that’s a bit problematic as well, because, as I said, I don’t think certain parts of the human experience can just be uploaded, but must be actively experienced. It’s one thing when the Doctor was basically just an interactive holo character like we’d meet in a holo-novel. Someone who’s just playing a role. But the point of the Doctor’s story on Voyager specifically was that he developed into a sentient life form. And as such I’d find it difficult to believe that he would have developed the (sexual) maturity to be a consenting adult in a relationship with another being.
Look, I don't want to make this into a bigger deal than it is for me. I have no problem watching Voyager and suspending my disbelief and accepting that the Doctor is supposed to be a grown man. Just as Kes is supposed to be a grown woman. I know that’s the intent of the writers. And I watch Star Trek as entertainment, not as a realistic depiction of what aliens or artificial life forms would be like.
Now that we know Darem is bisexual, I look forward to seeing him flirt with guys and making the snowflakes cry.
That is true, although this was later contradicted in Relativity when we see him active in sickbay the day Janeway first arrived on the ship while it was still at Utopia Planitia. Still, that would mean he's only a few weeks old at most in Caretaker.
That test run could have been erased from his memories and his program reset after it was deemed up and running.
That or the events were erased from the timeline as they had to tweak history to hide their shenanigans.
I admit a really interesting take would be if they did have a polycule going on and no one makes it weird.

Why do you care what other people think or do? This star trek is not going to be for everyobe. If you love it just enjoy it. This shouldn't be some kind of contest between groups of Trek fans.
