Spoilers “Vaulting Ambition” Preview Images

Oh god...we're not getting out of the Mirror Universe by the end of this episode are we?

This is going to be at least a four part mini-arc, taking up the majority of Chapter Two. Hell, it might be a five-part arc.

They'll be out before the end of the season.

I know. My point is, this is looking like more than a two-parter. It's looking like this is basically the Chapter II arc. For all we know, we won't get back to "prime" (if we do) until the last episode of the season.

By which time the Federation will have fallen and the Discovery will have to use the "slingshot around the sun" mode of time travel to go back and fix things.

This is one of the most camp things I've ever seen in Star Trek. I kinda love they've gone all in, but I'm shocked this is the sort of thing they're serving up in the first season.

I think the consume people were definitely taking inspiration from classic Hong Kong film. (Actually it reminds me a lot of the gowns Li Gong wore in Golden Flower.)

But, as I noted up thread, it why I fully expect to see some of this:

She's probably the single most talented woman in the world at what she does. So it would seem like a waste not to take advantage, especially given the nature of the character. Plus, they've been establishing Micheal's skill in combat all season, almost as if they were building up to something.

We'll probably get a battle between Burnham and Georgiou where they chase each other through the palace and magically fly through the air as they go... (more believable in low gravity than in 19th century China!).

There will be a scene reminiscent of the tree top fight from 'Crouching tiger, hidden dragon' in discovery's mushroom cultivation bay

Sounds like something out of Super Mario Bros.
"I'm sorry Michael, the Princess is in another universe."

I think I'm in love with Michelle Yeoh!

Um... That's what I was talking about.

What's your issue? I was just replying to your comment, which i found funny.

Please point out for me where in your comment, you used the terms 'tree top fight', 'crouching tiger, hidden dragon' or 'mushroom cultivation bay'?

OK, OK, apologies. By your explicit mention of the movie title, it seemed like you missed my point. Sometimes things don't come across in cyberspace.

On the other hand, it's camp. And every Trek series needs some hammy camp elements in order to feel like Star Trek, no matter how modern. If DSC were nothing but serious or stoic imagery that ignored Trek's frequently goofy and silly past then it'd quickly become tiresome and boring. This is Trek, not Blade Runner with warp engines and transporters.

The more camp they can toss in every now and then the better. And the earlier the more welcome. Trek can't take itself too seriously lest it risk becoming painfully lecturing and self-indulgent in its view of the future.
