Recently I caught ALIENS: The Special Edition on Fox Movie Channel & the scene where Newt's parent's (re)discover The Derelict, & the ALIEN(S) is very similar to “The Raven”.
FYI, Newt's character's name is Rebecca Jorden & played by Carrie Henn.
The way Annika(7)'s parents (re)discover(?) the Borg is eerily parallel to & highly reminiscent of that whole, originally cut, scene from ALIENS
Just substitute Borg for ALIENS & the S.S. Raven for that vehicle Newt's parents were driving
I forget, did New-, err, Annika have a brother
I hope “The Raven” was inspired by, & a de facto “remake” of, those cut scenes from ALIENS as that would be really

Especially for aficionados of both Trek & Xenomorphia. Like me
ALIENS {1986} predates “The Raven” by well over a decade.
I can't recall who played Annika's parents, but it should've been the same actor & actress who played Newt's parents in that cut scene.
And IF Annika had/has a brother {forget now
}, someone similar in appearance to the boy who played Newt's brother in that cut scene should've been cast. I think Newt's brother was played by her real-life brother.
Other similarities:
*Both are blond haired & were young elementary-school age girls at the time.
*Both lost their parents to hive-alien organisms. Newt her brother too. Ditto for Annika if she had/has one
*Both rescued by veteran spacefaring women who become their adopted/substitute “mothers”.
*Both interact with technological synthetic humans (Bishop the android/robot & The Doctor EMH)
*Both see, view, in the vicinity of, when the Queens of the alien organisms which affected their lives so profoundly are destroyed by each character's new “mother”.
*Both have alternate names used more than their real ones (Seven, Newt)
*Can't think of anything else right now
