News ‘Swamp Thing’ series In works at DC Digital Service, ‘Metropolis’ in redevelopment

You don't consider Deadline trustworthy? I thought they tended to be on of the most trusted, reliable sources of TV and movie news?
Honestly, I'v pretty much expected DC Universe to die a pretty quick death from the moment it was announced, so I don't see any reason to doubt these stories.

It might survive as part of the Warner Media streaming service. They have all the content and software for the digital comics, so it would make sense to just keep that around for the Warner Media subscribers. Plus those DC Daily shows are very cheap to produce, and they put parts of their shows on YouTube to advertise their content (and all the other DC products).
The only thing Deadline has said is "Like every other initiative, DC Universe is being reevaluated following the completion of AT&T acquisition of Time Warner as WarnerMedia has put an emphasis on the launch of a new streaming platform. There have been questions how DC Universe fits into those plans".
People have construed this single sentence as meaning "DC Universe won't exist much longer", which is not in any way a foregone conclusion.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the new Warner Bros. streaming service will cost $16-$17 per month. While that sounds like a lot, WSJ says in their report that they're including HBO Now ($15 per month value) and Cinemax ($13 per month value) as part of the $16-17 per month service in an effort to remain competitive against lower-priced streaming services.
So Warner Bros. is folding both their extremely popular HBO Now and Cinemax into their upcoming streaming service. There's no way in hell they aren't doing the same with DC Universe.

I notice DCU is trying not to acknowledge Swampy getting cancelled. Show runner Mark Verheiden’s Twitter has been scrubbed of all the replies about it and just contains platitudes like “Check out Episode 2 of Swamp Thing!”.
As to Episode 2, it was OK and spooky but I’m still not hooked yet (nor turned off), I’m still expecting it gets “more” eventually.

I guess there's a chance it might be survive, but I find it really hard to believe that will happen with WB doing their new general streaming service.
I imagine that's why Netflix are putting so much effort into their own original content and not continuing with stuff that's likely to be pulled, like the Marvel shows.

They just want to try and be sure people still stream/watch the 10 episodes. I'm sure they're concerned that if people know its already cancelled - they won't bother watching and getting invested in any way. Yes, I know it's a streaming service and the way they track viewership is different; but they still want to be able to claim that the money spent on the 10 episodes did something positive for the service and marketing.
I hope so.
As I've said, I've got both Netflix and Amazon and dislike them both, from their user interfaces to their reams of content that doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I resent (you can probably tell) subscribing to them just to see a tiny handful of shows that I am invested in.
Sadly, I think a few big players will strip their content from each other's platforms and conventional channels leaving little option but to sign up.
Or it could all go toes up. Fingers crossed...
I already stated that Deadline is trustworthy; I just have a very different interpretation of what their single sentence about DCU being "re-evaluated" actually means.

I normally don't really care if shows get cancelled, they come and go, but this one seems so untimely and has implications that may creep into future productions that I've been fascinated and trying to dig up dirt. I guess I don't usually worry about "if" but in this case the "why" is intruiging. While Titans had some first time greenness I thought they hit it out of the park with Doom Patrol and have been excited to see where they were going with DCU TV. At the very least, their shows were refreshing from the standard stuff we've seen. It's unfortunate since they seem to be taking some chances with a more experimental approach on the movie side of things.
