Celebrating this as anything more than an unfortunate and untimely circumstance is tone-deaf and tactless at best.

Mock Outrage to make yourself sound as if you have a moral high-ground over others when you don't.

It's not celebration. It's being grateful that anything can be accomplished while Covid-19 is going on. It's working around a problem to still get things done. We've all had to do that to some extent. I'd love to have get-togethers with my friends in person, but we meet over Zoom now. I'd love to work more in a normal setting, but working from home is becoming more and more of a thing.

Everything could've come to a grinding halt. But it didn't. People triumph over circumstance.

That and the power of personal computers these days.

Everybody in a VFX house can easily afford a 64-core AMD ThreadRipper to help with VFX at home.

Those CPU's are AMAZING, and pair that with the right Professional GPU, you have quite the WorkStation that would've been considered a Server Farm a few years ago.

Hell, as a hobbyist, you can even get by with, say, a Ryzen 3900x (12c, 24t), 64GB of RAM, and an RTX 2070 and do things that were utterly impossible without a LOT more money just a few years ago, all while being somewhat energy efficient while you're doing it.

People can make their own adventures with tech these days—with movie quality slickness.

The acting and plot? Mmm
Let's seperate the 3x things.

VFX is it's own category, which is seperate from the Practical Effects.

Writing and Plot is it's own area

Acting is reliant on the Actors & Directors with some portion being attributable to the Contents of the Script.

Each one should be judged seperately on their own merits.

There was no ability to do pick-ups for inserts or connective reaction shots, so meticulous computer-generated images were used to double characters and create a sense of visual continuity even when coverage hadn’t been there.
I wonder if this is why the Orion who refused to buy the tricorder from Booker looked so animated
