‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franchise

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

I buy Conan as a thief much easier from Momoa than i would buy it from the bulky Ahnuld with his heavy german accent.

Aren't characters in the stories commenting on the fact that Conan doesn't look or act or seem like a thief?

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

It'll take some serious suspension of disbelief to go with Conan having had so much bad plastic surgery...

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

I wonder what kind of king Conan was. Did he he leave administration to the bureucrats or he actually read big and boring books and made decisions about economic policy.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

He had to deal with controversy over whether he was really a native born Hyborean.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

Up until he beheaded The Birthers.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

Nothing says "shut the fuck up" to Birthers better than heads on pikes.

Failing that, a birth certificate.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

Oh good! Politics! :borg:

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

His kingdom accepted the Schwarzeneger amendment a long time ago.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

He pushes uncooperative tax collectors off the Fiskayle Cliff.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

What reason would they have to ignore The Destroyer? Doesn't that film end with him being placed on the throne? I was under the impression this third Arnold Conan film would be King Conan so I'm not understanding what their direction is going to be or why ignoring The Destroyer seems necessary.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

^ Conan isn't a king at the end of Destroyer. The ending is the same as Barbarian where you see Conan on a throne and Akiro is doing a voice over saying "That's a tale for another day" or something like that.As far as ignoring Destroyer, I really don't see the point either. Maybe there is a story element they want to use that Destroyer might contradict. Who knows. No biggy really.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

It most likely has to do with story and tone that they want to capture that "Destroyer" doesn't have. Others may have more insight into Captain Craig's question and can provide a more informative answer.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

In this case, I think it has more to do with the events in Destroyer just having no bearing. Destroyer comes off as a one off adventure. It's not like anything in it had lasting impact on the character.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

Yeah, I'd imagine that they ignore it in the same way that Die Hard With a Vengeance ignores Die Hard 2 or the third Indiana Jones ignores the Temple of Doom. They're not decanonizing their predecessors, just not mentioning or referring to them.

Re: ‘Conan The Barbarian' and Arnold Reunited: Universal Reboots Franc

That really is a short CV of hers, though I see she's written a movie in pre-production that will mark Will Smith's directorial debut if it goes ahead.

I haven't seen WTC so I really can't say if this is good or bad.
