I always assumed there were specialists providing reports and what not for the bridge crew. Like when Wesley assembles the team but is the team leader reporting on their findings. In the same way that when I hold a meeting at work the managers are (theoretically) bringing the best...
I’ll be the fourth for Farewell. My biggest gripe with season 2 is that it drags and then rushes. Loved the Q parts though. For the next round I’m going with The Star Gazer. I enjoyed it but honestly just felt really let down by season 2 just feeling so rambling.
Remembrance - 0
The Impossible...
The Emissary- make it at least a 3 part opener. More Opaka, more time with the wormhole aliens etc. With the extra budget show more of Bajor because I agree some culture immersion would serve the show as a definitive improvement. Make the ending tension with fleets of ships trying to claim...
I wonder if Jeremy is part of the House of Martok now like the rest of them. Martok will make him a warrior!
Worf is terrible with Alexander, with Nikolai, with Kurn. And in fact seems to have trouble forming friendships to some extent beyond admiring/respecting colleagues. As Guinan said...
I’ll eliminate Rosetta. It’s an excellent episode but I think of it kind of like a two parter with Species Ten-C and this is one of the rare occasions I think the resolution is even better than you imagine by the set up. For the next round, I’m going to go with If Memory Serves. I love it but...
“New Eden” gets my vote as well because I think what Sakonna said was spot on.
If Memory Serves - 0
New Eden - 3
People of Earth - 0
Species Ten-C - 0
Rosetta - 0
I finished season 4 so now I have seen all the episodes. I like all of these episodes left quite a bit and almost can’t do this because Lorca is so great in it…but I’m gonna go for Context is for Kings not so much because of any complaint with it as the others I just really, really, really like…...
Flashback. Except a three parter showing how Tuvok was an angry Vulcan throughout his career. Snide Vulcan serving under Picard on the Stargazer. Being a snobby Vulcan with XO Sisko on the Saratoga. So many cameos and ships!
Use the unlimited budget to have the characters from Learning...
I’m not the biggest fan of when Trek gets way silly. My personal tastes have always enjoyed “A Piece of the Action” but then lost interest at “The Trouble with Tribbles.”
I suppose everyone’s line is different.
My bigger concern is that the music won’t be too good. I watch a lot of musicals...
Just wanted to add- finally finished season 4. It was, I think, my favorite season of Discovery. Really the whole thing is well done from start to finish.
Very creative and fresh and getting the most out of the set up from the previous season. All the characters have nice arcs. Discovery is...
I’ll be the fourth and eliminate into the Forest I Go because I agree it’s the weakest one here (*Full disclosure I haven’t seen the bottom two yet so I won’t vote for/against those).
For the next round I’m going with Forget Me Not. Though it was fun to see Trill and I get what they are...
! That would have been interesting!
In fact, the could have made the whole thing in reverse and had Duras blamed for it. Which would certainly have given them strong motivation for their rebellion later and for hating Worf.
And as it happens, for some perspective on 2001, Scott Bakula had just played a character for whom the fact of being gay was his relevance in the story, 2 years earlier in American Beauty.
I know the least about the behind the scenes stuff of anyone on this board because I don’t bother with...
1. That Riker is the most realistic human character arc in all Trek from TNG to PIC. Self assured youth-comforted entrance in adulthood-breaking out of comfort to real adulthood- accepting new less self interested priorities- sorrow loss and grief- return to joy with the perspective of age.
2...
I think it’s too bad that a lot of folks don’t like new and a lot of folks don’t like old.
There is some brilliant stuff in TOS which is timeless. Things recontextualize themselves. In the digital age of life I see Wink of an Eye with whole new meanings.
And as to things like graphics, if you...
I think it would have been a nice tie in since it’s uniquely TNG stuff. Also, they could have been infiltrating people for years doing untold things. Riker could have pulled his cool “I’m gonna eat the worms…but nope phasered!” Move.
Also, don’t know why anybody would care- but my dad and I...
I’m actually one of the few people who like Chakotay, HOWEVER, Kate Mulgrew and Michelle Forbes as her ex-Marquis first officer could have been an amazing dynamic. Of course the writers would have to remember she was Marquis past the third episode…
Where no one has gone before. A three part episode. Trapped in the universe of thought. Mind blowing chaos.
Or
Parallels with entirely different universes. One at war with the Klingons still, one with Jellico in charge, different crew mates, the enterprise being different in different...
