So that's that then, season 3 is done.
Was it good? Overall, definitely not.
Was it bad? No. At least, not completely.
It was ....... exceedingly bland and average at best. The writing was all over the place, as was the direction and editing.
They can use all of the flashy CGI and...
Just watched it. Yet another episode where I'm thinking "some nice ideas but could have been so much better".
It just feels 'off' - and I don't mean as some TNG nostalgia trip either, it's just that the writing just isn't quite there. It mostly lacks 'spark' and good pacing. I can see the...
I like the character but he seems mentally unstable and totally unsuited to the captain's position. Early on this season some were comparing him to Jellico but I'm failing to see the connection - Jellico didn't dissolve into fits of childishness immaturity for example.
Just watched the episode: not bad, a bit better than last week. It had some good moments but there were too many moments were it became far too maudlin with some hokey writing. This can be good with great writing and if used properly and not too often, but it seemed to be shoe-horned in way too...
I've not looked at the startrek subreddit for some time due to the mods being overly heavy-handed with banning anyone and everyone who dared to even slightly criticize Discovery, Picard, SNW, etc. Just had a look today and that subreddit is now so terribly boring and bland. This is what happens...
Hmmm, not a bad episode, a little better than last week so as I can't give a 7.5 I'll go for a 7. However, here are some things that bugged me:
Some dodgy and out of character dialog in places, particularly the exchanges between Riker and Picard - that final exchange in particular was pretty...
To address the title of this thread, after seeing episode 2 it seems that the ship is now listing slightly to port .......
(the writing was weaker than episode 1 and there's now two new and extremely annoying characters: Jack Crusher and the cackling, maniacal witch that is Vadic). And let's...
So near the end it seems to be going a bit Wrath of Khan and BobW in some respects (powerful enemy, hide in Nebula), and not in a good way. Overall not a terrible episode but not as good as episode 1.
Some annoying characters in this episode:
Jack Crusher
Raffi (nothing new there)
Vadic
all...
But isn't it reasonable to assume that people who didn't like seasons 1 and 2 are naturally going to compare them to season 3?
Isn't it a GOOD thing that many people are enjoying season 3 so far, even if that means they are saying "wow, this is so much better than seasons 1 and 2!". This is...
It's down to a matter of personal taste and opinion - some people don't like TOS, TNG, DS9, etc yet any constructive criticism should be allowed, because if it isn't then that equates to censorship and being unwilling to hear anyone's opinion other than your own. I'm fine with people liking...
It remains to be seen whether the ship has been righted - as you say, season 1 and particularly season 2 started off well but very soon went downhill.
That said, the media have been given access to the first six episodes for review purposes and those I'm aware of seem to be very positive. I'm...
After intensely disliking seasons 1 and 2 of Picard I decided to try season 3 episode 1 after hearing it had a lot of good reviews and, surprise surprise, I enjoyed it. May the decent writing live long and prosper.
I must admit that I do find some movies look too 'smooth' (particularly modern movies shot on digital) - however I thought that the remastered TMP looked fine.
Out of interest, how exactly did you add the grain to TMP? I'm now curious about experimenting with it. I'm also curious about how to...
