Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

And yet we got the infamous copy/paste armada of Inquiry Class ships in season 1. I really wish they wouldn't bother with these brave attempts to explain what are fundamentally creative decisions.

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

Yet a lot of us aren't. I'm perplexed at the pushback to these valid (if very minor) complaints. It doesn't mean we don't enjoy the show - I am loving this season. I personally don't like how retro the Titan-A is, regardless of the techie nitpick side of it. I would have loved a Connie-esque...

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

You know what, I absolutely am going to ignore all of Matalas' and any other production team comments and go with that suggestion. So the Luna class ship was damaged beyond economical repair and retired at some point in the 2380s. Riker took over the Titan-A for a brief period before handing it...

    Seconded, this is fantastic.

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

I don't think it does work - the primary hull, for one, is an entirely different shape. It would have to be the broom analogy Matalas gave to justify his insistence that the Stargazer WAS a refit and not, as all other evidence suggests (and Memory Alpha agrees) an entirely new ship. Is it...

Star Trek the Cruise Museum - Picard Costumes and Props

Look closely - they are different items - the grain of the wooden block, the marks (or lack thereof) on the name plaque). It's usual to have more than one prop made.

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

My preference too. Or, come to think of it, a two-nacelle companion design i.e. neo-Stargazer nacelles (which they went with anyway), same saucer section, but a new engineering hull and neck. Could have been a cool callback to the TMP Enterprise without being as on-the-nose retro as what we got.

Star Trek the Cruise Museum - Picard Costumes and Props

This is a cast of a present-day SilencerCo Maxim 9 semi-automatic pistol with a few extra greeblies similar to those added to Jack's TOS/TFF phaser. https://silencerco.com/silencers/maxim-9/

Spoilers Picard Season 3 - Preview Photos/Videos Thread

I'm so conditioned to expect such a scene that I (briefly) actually expected the close-up on Riker to result in that.

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

Oh yes, it's fanwank all the way down this season, and for as much as that improves the show (for me), I'll gladly take Starfleet having a midlife crisis.

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

It's fine, but I wish they had given it less of an on-the-nose 23rd century saucer. They changed all other details to update the ship but unlike the saucer on the new Stargazer, kept the almost identical Connie/Miranda saucer. I also think the class name is needless fanwanking from Matalas to be...

Is Titan-A a refit of original Titan?

The comments from him that I've seen are consistent with the dialogue and visuals - notably the gold models from Shaw's ready room that include the Luna class and the 'original' Shangri-La class Titan. It makes very little sense, but the intent is that Riker's Luna-class ship was rebuilt into...

Presumably the hull is tritanium or whatever though, not ferrous metal.

Why on earth is the hull rusting in that concept art?

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x01 - "The Next Generation"

Sorry, that was intended to signal that I'm not merely "hating" based on such a trivial aspect. I should have said "those of us that love the technology and think a pump-action phaser is silly". Yes, absolutely my headcanon on this, but not what Matalas used as his justification.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x01 - "The Next Generation"

Sorry- multi-edit, I am out of forum practice these days... I checked EF2 - the Federation Assault Rifle does indeed have a pump grip on it, which is used to reload having fired all your 'loaded' shots. This is what Matalas is thinking of. You don't, however, have to pump it each time you fire...

Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Yes, I've seen the overlays of refit and TOS that show how much of a mismatch there really is there. Frankly I'd rather they hadn't done that either! Still, I find this one more jarring, probably because it's a similar mega-refit to make the ship look older, not newer. Oh, and because the TMP...

Whatever Riker did to the Titan to allow for that much change must have resembled Ace Ventura's car after the "like a glove" scene.
