It is really interesting that they included screenshots from TNG versions of the Borg (e.g. Hugh and Locutus) and Paris etc in this episode, maintaining them as visually canon in that way, rather than updating them to the modern aesthetic...
If the Borg have Sikarian gateway tech now, can't they just beam into any world they want within 40000 light years and start assimilating? No need to battling pesky defense fleets when you have that tech. A cool reference and all but the implications of them having that tech are enormous.
OP, sorry you don't like it but you don't get to say what is and isn't Star Trek. You also need to take off your rose tinted and extremely distorted sunglasses. I am getting sick to death of people misrepresenting and selectively recalling what has come before in criticising these FIVE EPISODES...
Someone more skilled with taking screenshots than me might be able to catch one but that is the best I could do of it there beneath the Bird of Prey - it's moving very quickly!
The acid is clearly contained in some kind of suicide capsule they bite down on, rather than being some kind of biological ability, so if they're carrying them, sure.
It depends on if a successor state/functioning government emerged from the destruction of the Empire and if they and the Federation decided to honor existing treaties, I guess.
