While I agree that Geordi and Leah ending up together in the end doesn't really sit well with me given the events of "Galaxy's Child", I think it would be more charitable to assume that Leah's husband passed away or they separated for other reasons, rather than jumping to her dumping him to be...
I kind of wish we'd gotten a bit more detail about what exactly happened with Sisko's mother. If nothing else, it would be really nice to think it was consensual on at least some level.
It wasn't just the food, though. It was the lighting and music and all. He was pretty obviously trying to create a romantic environment while meeting with a professional associate (I apologize in advance if I'm confusing this with another episode).
If I invited a coworker to my home and dimmed...
I think it's reasonable to assume that one can take a turbolift to Deck One and access the conference room without going through the Bridge. Indeed, that's likely often desirable when dealing with hostile powers or such (e.g. the Cardassians in "Chain of Command").
What's less clear is why...
I think I was fine with his behavior up until he deliberately tried to make a dinner setting he thought would appeal to her using knowledge he wouldn't have had if he hadn't used the holoprogam. That was just blatantly and creepily manipulative.
Gosh Geordi, maybe try to get to know the real...
Not exactly such, but the government in "First Contact" did decide that their people weren't ready to embrace the idea that there were aliens out there.
If the death scene in the hardcover you have matches what's shown in the film with the bridge and all, versus Kirk being shot by Soran, then you don't have the first edition.
How many times in the franchise has the ship or station been seized by compromised individuals? It's not as though Data or Geordi are uniquely vulnerable.
Although I don't recall Discovery ever being taken over unless you want to broadly construe things with Lorca.
It's possible Picard expected Data to do what he could to restore life support and expected to be back on the bridge within minutes. Or that Data was tasked with ensuring continuity of command functions while the others got situated in Engineering, and then he'd join them.
I also liked the blue...
Sisko's performance as Joran is one of the things that gives me pause when I consider rewatching "Facets", because I do find it pretty unsettling.
Is his reappearance in "Field of Fire"(?) disappointing by comparison?
Maybe, but it bothered me that the things he didn't seem to remember also seemed to coincide with the things that might reflect least favorably upon him.
I was kind of wondering who that was as well, and thought maybe Berman had an assistant present (I'm sure Braga would be thrilled by that :p ).
I don't want to cast aspersions, so I'll just say it was unfortunate that there were so many things that Berman didn't seem to clearly recall.
