Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x05 - "Choose Your Pain"

As promised, here's my review for the latest episode. I've copied it over from my other social media channels! Discovery hits its fourth episode (or fifth, if you’re counting the premiere as two separate episodes, which… you shouldn’t no matter what CBS claims to the contrary) with “Choose...

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x05 - "Choose Your Pain"

I was gonna save this for when I get to my full review tomorrow, but as soon as Saru asked the computer to pull up a list of Starfleet's most distinguished captains, I said to my roommates (and this was the only time I interrupted the episode) "incoming Archer reference."

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x05 - "Choose Your Pain"

Good episode. I'll have thoughts tomorrow; I'll port them here from my little social media group once I've written them. Loved everything ship-side this episode; not sold on Mudd yet. I was never a big fan though. I can tell Rainn Wilson's giving it his all, but eh.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x04 - "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry"

Some intel on four of the bridge crew. Someone on NeoGAF either made this or copied it from elsewhere.

Interesting quirk: we're three for three on episode titles being spoken in dialogue.

Kor was the butcher's knife to Voq's lamb. The Tardigrade is the lamb to Lorca's knife. Saru's threat ganglia detects them all.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x04 - "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry"

I would rather refer to Ripper as Frances. Also, After Trek was really good tonight. Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, and special guest Rekha Sharma of dearly-departed Landry fame were all hilarious.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x04 - "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry"

Oh right. Voq ate Georgiou. Hmm. That might make things more difficult.

Aaaaand the streak is broken. Alas, friends, nobody remarked that the butcher's knife cares not for the lamb's cry.

Spoilers Star Trek: Discovery 1x04 - "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry"

Bold prediction: Burnham's and Voq's stories are paralleling one-another. Voq was T'Kuvma's protege, Burnham was Georgiou's. Burnham was disgraced; Voq was exiled. Burnham had to get in with Lorca; Voq apparently has to get in with the matriarchs of House Mokai. They'll both "train for battle"...

"Discovery" and "The Orville" Bring Together American Conservatives and Liberals

I'm currently in that exact boat. I've been writing website descriptions for various products, too. On my own time I pen my stories and drink enough tea to mask the crushing sense that they may never get published. I've just gotta keep at it, I reckon!

What is the best enterprise season and why?

The third. I adore the Xindi arc, specifically the final eight episodes.

"Discovery" and "The Orville" Bring Together American Conservatives and Liberals

"The Discover Fleet travels the universe and explores new worlds" is the caption they chose for Star Trek: Discovery's listing. Long live the Discover Fleet.

    Vanishing crewmen

Aaron Harberts confirmed it was just Saru sensing Burnham wasn't on the ship on After Trek, too.

There's no way a conflict was named The War for Jenkins' Ear. Nevermind, wow, I looked it up and there really is. We're such a weird species.

    "Filthy Andorians"

Guy, I've been here for seven years, a full Voyager traipse across the Delta Quadrant, and you still keep me on my toes like a fresh-faced ensign. I am the Harry Kim to your writer refusal to promote me.

Spoilers Who is sympathetic to the Klingons?

I'm sympathetic to Voq. The tone of his skin has given him a lifetime of unjustified hardship, and I'd like to see him overcome that. I'd prefer it didn't happen thanks to murderous terrorist actions, of course. His relationship with Michael has been given an interesting setup: they tried to...
