The thing that gets me about that episode you the the Connie with more holes than Swiss cheese, and if not needed to take out the planet killer was more likely salvageable. Where was the damage to Enterprise? (Most likely not done due to budget I assume...)
Kirk had to make sure that Khan and everybody else bought the ruse. With that one word, he hoped to deceive Khan by acting the desparate, defeated, and now thought marooned Kirk. It worked perfectly.
I would think that there are more reactors than one...it would be very foolish to only have one. That current USS Enterprise went from 8 reactors to two currently, with each one able to operate the ship.
I go with Farragut and Hood being not originally part of the Connie class, but when they were destroyed, those names were used on new Connies that were either being built or were planned to be built.
She was interviewed on CNN last week while attending the BET Awards where she was asked about that very thing and essentially told the same story. No need to think the story was BS.
Kirk and crew need a credible threat to themselves and the Enterprise. By the time the new movie comes out,Kirk will only have been in command a couple of years. I want to see him make a mistake that could have dire consequences but he, the Enterprise and crew manage to save the day. Action and...
In a logical sense, the Connies should have still been around in some role along with the Mirandas and Excelciours. How many times were the other classes refitted and still in service?
Re: What do you want to see in Star Trek XII (The Sequel) ??
Hmmmmmmmmm.....That would be interesting..we could see the first battle with the Constellation...and who would play Decker?
Destroying the nu Enterprise is a bad plan...letting her get chewed up some in battle is not a bad plan...it would allow us to see Kirk learn how to be the "great" warrior he was on the old timeline....
Allright ...so the ship may be 2000 feet long....what does she weigh? I'm leaving that to you experts, but I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 30 million tons or so....
I go with she was new, with a whole lotta bugs that needed to be worked out...then decommed as soon as the B was ready and put into the Reserve fleet, where she was either broken up or refitted and renamed for lesser duties.
The initial battle b/t Reliant and Enterprise. Enterprise took more hits than were shown...it would have been interesting to see all the damage Reliant caused.
Re: Ricardo Montalban has passed on.
RIP.I'm still upset that he wasn't even in the running for Best Supporting Actor that year...it was truly a great performance.
Each have their strengths but also weaknesses. to me, my list is as follows:
1. Sisko: Fought the Dominion War and won. nuff said.
2. Janeway: Got her ship back from the Delta Quadrant facing several enemies with no support from home.
3. Kirk: Fought the Enterprise well in several...
