I'm trying some new materials for my take on the Botany Bay.
I'm looking for Focused Critiques here:

Does she look ancient enough?
I've been modeling my take on Phil Broad's Galileo shuttlecraft, and would really like to animate the retracting of the landing gear, both the front and the rear.
Here are a few shots of where I am so far.

I've been playing around with adding my Nomad model to my USS Enterprise shuttle bay, but having trouble getting the Nomad to show up in my final render. I can see the Nomad in my 3d viewport, like you can see in my screenshot below...
A good number of years ago, I was rewatching The Original Series episode “The Trouble with Tribbles”, and noticed Scotty reading his technical journals, as he was wont to do, and on-screen, we saw a tiny glimpse of something there...
I'm working on my adaptation of the Pointer class, and was wondering if anyone had had any experience in adding the detailed saucer rim edge from the NX-01, to the definitely not-circular main hull of my Pointer.
Is it possible to use the shrink-wrap modifier to accomplish this with a minimum...
You know, I wondered what the hangar of the TOS Enterprise would look like with as many F type shuttles as I could reasonably fit in there.
So, because cloning a shuttle in a modern 3D program is kid's play, and I already have an Enterprise that I'm trying to flesh out and detail faithfully...
So, I was over at tosgraphics.com, looking at the engine room construction thread, and noticed that feek61 mentioned that he had made a 5 page set of blueprints of the set they made.

I haven't been able to find more...
I was wondering if there was a production intent of color for the impulse engine glow on the original series Enterprise? And barring that, is there a fan consensus of same?
Thanks in advance.
Trying to be screen-accurate to a capital ship like the TOS Enterprise can be a real time-suck! So, while working on it at a glacial pace, I decided to try something more approachable and manageable - the Nomad space probe from the Original Series episode "The Changeling".
Here are the fruits...
Speaking strictly TOS (and TOS-R), and just the ship mounted varieties, is there a definitive attribution of where the flipping phasers are supposed to emit from? Where are the emplacements??
TOS shows them emitting from the front-mid-lower saucer, while TOS-R tries to lower that apparent...
Hi guys and gals! I'm excited because after some time away from posting on TrekBBS, and a longer time away from making artwork, I've got some preliminary Blender artwork to share with everyone.
I'm really taking to Blender quite intuitively, after being turned off to 3D modeling during my...
The Galaxy is a Crowded Place – A Series
One of the things that mankind’s search for exoplanets – planets located outside our own solar system – has shown us is that there are a lot more of them out there than we initially thought.
As of this morning, we've found 1,774 exoplanets, a good...
This just makes me feel old, and proud at the same time.

Check it out. Great article, and timely for us who have been chomping at the bit for news.
What? Not enough? You need more?!?! Okay, here it is.

Still have a Samsung-shaped...
Given that this episode was originally set to be a pilot for a Gary Seven show, and that it features odd cinematography (shooting around the fact that Kirk and our heroes rarely occupy the same space together), not to mention weird ideas that never get mentioned again (like time travel to the...
The concept of updating Franz Joseph's Starfleet Technical Manual and USS Enterprise deck plans is really intriguing, and gets the creative juices flowing.
I've decided to sit down and begin to make a master list of what should be on there.
To my mind, and the reason I started my own thread...
I've finally decided to make the immense investment of $0 dollars and download Google's 3D modelling app, Sketchup. True to their word, it is easy to get started, but I've run into some walls already.
I already downloaded and am using the 30-day free trial of the Indigo Renderer for scenes, to...

Another big win for a neutral, open web. HTML5 for the win!
Even Adobe sees the sense of it, finally!
