‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

You streaming guys are spoilt. Especially Star Trek fans. You have 3 seasons worth of SNWs to come. The show will end on season 5 with a shorter episode count but at least they get to end it on their own terms and have plenty of time to plan out a satisfying ending. It's not like 'Enterprise'...

    Galaxy Quest Series Back On

Exactly. They've been trying to get a GQ follow-up going for so long, this is nothing to get excited about. It's had almost as many false starts as there have been cancelled SW projects. Wake me when there's actual news.

    SNW Season 5 In Development

I'm saying that the new Trek TV series's, like the Old Trek series, will be licensed to Netflix once completed. As for the Taylor Sheridan TV series's, each one stars a famous movie star. I think they will catch the attention of Netflix viewers. Some of them will be completed with a proper...

    SNW Season 5 In Development

Netflix is ruthless (most shows on Netflix don't last beyond two seasons). I remember a post on Twitter saying that there should be a band called Cancelled After Two Seasons on Netflix.

    SNW Season 5 In Development

You’re right, sorry! It’s shrunk its quarterly losses to a far more manageable degree, and it’s likely to turn green by year’s end. But no, you’re correct, it is still losing some money as of May.

    SNW Season 5 In Development

Are they turning a profit? I was under the impression that P+ was losing money, hence why they're cancelling all these expensive-to-produce Trek shows. But besides that, I just feel that whoever ends up acquiring Paramount Global will want to do their own thing. Yes, Star Trek is still a viable...

Indeed, yes. Paramount is under no obligation to make episodes of Star Trek beyond their business will allow. Besides, I thought newer Trek was drek and needed cancelling?

    SNW Season 5 In Development

I find it kind of funny, and also kind of sad, that SNW will get less than half(!) as many episodes as ENT did (46 vs. 98). And yet SNW is the beloved, successful prequel that run it's full expected course, whereas ENT is the failed stepchild that was cancelled prematurely halfway through its run.

    SNW Season 5 In Development

DSC and LDS were cancelled prematurely. If a show is super popular, logically its producers shouldn’t have the attitude that they should only make five seasons. The problem these days, however, is that streaming shows only have ten episodes per year. By the time a new season rolls around...

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

I’m assuming that CBS allowed them to have a truncated final season rather than cancel it after season 4 on whatever cliffhanger they came up with.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

It's similar to how back in the day people were outraged that UPN canceled Enterprise and renewed Veronica Mars despite the fact that Enterprise had higher ratings, not taking into account that they could probably make three episodes of Veronica Mars on the budget of one episode of Enterprise.

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

I get this, for sure, and believe me, I carry that scar for Farscape. I was very young, but I participated a bit in the #SaveFarscape fandom efforts, which helped lead to the miniseries finale. That was very cool to experience firsthand. Still… I’ll say it’s very likely that, when a show is...

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

FARSCAPE was "guaranteed" seasons 4 AND 5 when it got that renewal announcenent toward the end of season 3. It ended up getting canceled midway through season 4. If the money well dries up, no shows will flow. Until filming actually begins on a 5th season, I don't trust this announcement...

‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

This is glass-two-thirds-full to me. Do I want more seasons? Of course. Do I want more than six episodes for the final season? Yeah. Am I glad that, even before the third season premiered, we learned that a fourth and fifth are guaranteed? Absolutely! It’s always good to know when something is...

Just a matter of time. Probably going to clean house. Kurtzman will soon be gone as well. Trek will be in the hands of someone else. I did hear though they might just focus on movies. Not sure if that is true. I hope not. Star Trek's natural home is on tv.
