    Enterprise-A Questions

...There was no moving of Goal Posts, it was always in a different field from what you interpreted my Goal Posts to be at. Other than the Dominion War Re-Fit where they added extra Phaser Arrays on top of the Warp Nacelles. I haven't seen much change to the Galaxy Class. Not sure, if I'm a...

    Enterprise-A Questions

You're moving goalposts. How many were destroyed during the Dominion War? How many were destroyed during the Synth Attack on Mars? How many were destroyed in other skirmishes or weird space shit over the years? The Federation has had several massively destructive events impacting their...

The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - DS9 Final Rounds

Sacrifice of Angels, for the deus ex machina dominion fleet solution. It makes sense that the prophets could do that but it also felt too easy. Ziyal's death felt tacked on, it was a disappointing end to her character. Duet - 0 In the Hands of the Prophets - 3 The House of Quark - 3 Improbable...

The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - DS9 Final Rounds

Arriving on time to finish "The Jem'Hadar". It was certainly a horrific setup for the Dominion, demonstrating both their pure evil and their technological edge... but most of these others are just better. Duet - 0 In the Hands of the Prophets - 0 The House of Quark - 0 Improbable Cause - 0 Call...

well it takes place after the federation blew up the main dominion production facility, causing a shortage. might be that the Son'A production was something the dominion did as a short term solution to the shortage.. which proved rather more permanent than they'd originally planned. it's called...

    Re-Watching DS9

Odo meeting his secret Cardassian contact reminds me also of All the President's Men when "Deep Throat" is telling Woodward and Bernstein that the burglary is a small piece of a much larger puzzle - but stubbornly insists that the reporters dig it up themselves rather than depending only on one...

Nemesis is better than Insurrection: Convince me otherwise.

There was a compelling notion that due to the Dominion War the Federation was compromising its own moral integrity...of course, like many of the compelling notions raised by INS, that one ultimately went largely unaddressed within the film.

The Least Disliked Episode 2025 - DS9 Final Rounds

Again I vote for "The Jen'Hadar". If Eris had wanted to spy for the Dominion, all she had to do is go through the Wormhole to DS9, say "Hi, I am a Vorta from the Gamma Quadrat. Mind if I hang around for a bit on this very interesting space station?" and Starfleet and the Bajorans would have...

...peaceful galaxy in the 2300-2350s when the emphasis was on exploration, and the Galaxy class was designed for that. The Borg, then Dominion, emphasised the need to boost the military part, needing more, smaller, powerfully armed ships, giving more bang per crewmember. The loss of half the...

Oh, that is interesting. I wasn't aware of the fact this was mentioned in DS9 itself. So it is, then. I still am not convinced that's a smart move of the Dominion. Feels a bit like the USA outsourcing a critical component of their defence system to a small country with a questionable reputation.

iirc in DS9 "penumbra" it's mentioned that the dominion needs to send additional ships to defend the ketricil white factory in Son'a space, so i'm guessing that they'd been making it on commission from the Dominion.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

...undefeatable. They were clever and calculating. They would get beat, but not easily. And they did come back stronger when they joined the Dominion. And while they did get beat in the end, it also was a HUGE cost between THREE major Alpha Quadrant powers. The Borg... a force of nature...

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

...with how bad-ass they were and had to subsequently dumb them down in order for our heroes to win. Happened with the Borg; happened with the Dominion; happened to a lesser extent at various points in the franchise with the Klingons, Romulans, Ferengi, Cardassians, etc. Rinse-and-repeat. It...

If the Ferengi in TNG maintained the idea of being the main antagonists

...you wanted the Ferengi to be absolutely vicious like the Gorn in order to be taken seriously as a threat. Again, wanting to expand your business empire by being more cuttthroat is fine, but I still don’t think the Federation would be treating them like they treat the Cardassians or the Dominion.

Must There Be A Section 31?

...is interesting. I kinda would have preferred if they had just been some new organisation that had sprung up as a result of the threat of the Dominion, because I hate how the novels wanted to try to tie every nefarious action in Trek history to these guys. I think it takes something away from...

...this scene in Star Trek: Insurrection where we are told the Son'a produced 'vast quantities' of the stuff. But why? 1) If I were the Dominion, I would absolutely keep the production of this stuff in-house and never license it to other parties. It is, after all, one of the primary means to...

Write your own Series Concept for the Enterprise F

Go wild for a concept with the series set around the Enterprise F. In my concept, after the Dominion War ended the Dominion would become the "Romulans" of the next era, with them retreating and being inclusive. Tensions remain cold after the war, with a Dominion Vessel not being seen by the...
