    Favorite DS9 one-liners?

Worf: What about Garak? Captain Sisko: I want him back too. I suppose I don't have to tell you to keep a close eye on him. Worf: At the first sign of betrayal I will kill him, but I promise to return the body intact. Captain Sisko: I assume that's a joke? Worf: We will see.

    The Dr M'Benga appreciation thread

Thank you for spelling 'martial' correctly. I'm a veteran and it's a pet peeve.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x08 - "Under the Cloak of War"

Has anyone mentioned that Rah called the Klingon chancellor "him?" That means that either the writers bleeped up or that L'rell isn't the chancellor anymore.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x08 - "Under the Cloak of War"

I'm sure someone has said this already, but after watching it a second time, it's plain that Rah killed himself. Oh and 9/10. Great performance by Babs.

I turn the captions on for all the shows.

    The Doctor's voice

M'benga is an African, but back in the late 1960s, I'm guessing that there weren't many African actors available for the role, so they cast an American of African descent. Reason: it was only in 1965, when the new Immigration Act was passed, that persons from non-Western countries began to...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x02 - "Ad Astra Per Aspera"

Yes. See: Sarek. Both of his sons know it. Sarek can't even embrace Spock's humanity even though he is the author of it.

And Cardassians. Though Kira probably knows where all their weak spots are.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x01 - "The Broken Circle"

Re: unrealistic fights, not to mention inconsistent In Star Trek (2009), Kelvin Kirk gets his ass kicked by two Romulans and a Vulcan, but pops back up like the energizer bunny with just an injured hand (from when one of the Romulans stepped on it.) Wait. There's no such thing as Romulans and...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x01 - "The Broken Circle"

A lot of things that happen in Star Trek don't happen (yet) in real life. And why this? "Women are not men." That has nothing to do with what I said or this fictional world that we're both presumably fans of.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x01 - "The Broken Circle"

I understand what you're saying but the green juice obviously has an effect on the strength of the bones - and not just the ones in the hand. Good "tough girl" tropes usually involve some kind of radical augmentation. River Tam comes to mind.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2x01 - "The Broken Circle"

My formerly thuggish baby sister just got her BS in nursing. She's 5'9" and about 180 lbs. and could probably own a few people in hand-to-hand combat, but I think she would try to talk a belligerent down now as opposed to during the time of her wayward youth. And that feeds into the part of...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x10 - "The Last Generation"

Seven and Raffi stayed on the Titan with the dying Shaw while the others escaped in the maintenance shuttle. But I agree that they should have found a way to make it longer.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x10 - "The Last Generation"

Real-world speaking, US Armed Forces members come up for evaluation on a regular schedule and unless the member has done something really bad, their superior recommends them for promotion. Shaw recommended that Seven be promoted to captain ASAP - which he assumed wouldn't happen for years...

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x10 - "The Last Generation"

I was hoping for the Titan to be rechristened as the USS Liam Shaw.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x10 - "The Last Generation"

In Picard, S3E1 (IIRC), Seven piloted the Titan out of space dock and I got a distinctly Old Seven vibe from her when she said "you may clear all moorings." Some variation on that, maybe? "You may fly." "You may hit it." "You may engage." "You may GTFOOH."

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x09 - "Võx"

Confederation Seven couldn’t have saved Elnor because she was not Borg.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x07 - "Dominion"

Which does not negate my observation. "What if we do [have the advantage]? I think I know how we can get Vadic." - Picard to Jack.
