Hey everybody,
I've been searching for a document that I know I've seen on here at some point before - Paramount's test audience research from DS9's first season that showed how audiences reacted to specific characters and episodes. I've been looking all over for it and no luck yet. Does anyone...
Shatner never really got credit for adjusting his performances based on the quality of the scripts. In bad episodes he goes hog-wild, as if he will single-handedly save a terrible script through the sheer power of his scenery chewing. I'd say look at "Obsession" vs. "The Gamesters of Triskelion"...
I always thought she was massively underrated as an actress both in skill and work ethic. Despite the inconsistent material she had to work with and friction between her and Jeri Ryan, she always gave 100% and was very diplomatic in interviews at the time.
I'm really excited to hear this, and happy to see that some of my suggestions made the set! And kudos to Neil for what must have been a nightmare audio edit on the TAS cues.
I maintain that the scene in TUC would have been far funnier if Uhura not only knew Klingon, but, to everyone's surprise, bullied her way through that conversation to get them through. Top the scene off with Chekov holding the (unnecessary) dictionary.

I'm reading the Third Season book now, and I think I've gotten pretty good at filtering out all the misinformation as I read. Half-tempted to start crossing things out with a red pen.
I'm one of those weird people that would be perfectly happy if there were no more Star Trek TV shows or movies. We've been blessed with a ridiculous amount of material, both good and bad, over the last 50 years. But I also understand the desire to bring Star Trek to new audiences, and I'm...
I always thought there could have been a compromise in the design of the VISOR. Keep the basic shape but get rid of the grille so Burton's eyes would be visible.
More like there was no inner walkway on the Promenade's second level. It wasn't built until season 2. Here's a screencap of how it looked in season 1. http://ds9.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/1x05/babel095.jpg
Maybe I'm turning into a cranky old man, but I would have preferred a more traditional documentary format. The constant rapid cutting and graphics over everyone's remarks got tiresome after a while. I think the subject matter was interesting enough to not need so many gimmicks. But it was still...
The first handful of episodes look exceptional. You can tell that great care went into the lighting, color schemes, camera angles and movements. Even the often-mocked backlighting and soft focus on the ladies were done with great attention to detail. It's a shame this was lost as the series went...
