5.
I thought it was fine and not worth a lot of the hate. It was entertaining enough.
I am curious though about Erika Lippoldt and Bo Yeon Kim’s original vision for the series. They got a story credit here, so some elements survived. But I do wonder if their show would have had a completely...
I’m rewatching Discovery with the complete series blu-rays and I’m most of the way through season 3. Before this I had only watched week by week and saved any rewatches for when the complete series was released.
Originally, my opinion on the series was that seasons 1 - 2 were far superior to...
I have seen the Akiva Goldsman season 2 theory floated around here before, but he seemed less involved in season 2 than season 1. For example, Goldsman directed no episodes of season 2, but directed 2 in season 1. The only episodes that Goldsman has credits for writing in season 2 are the...
… is that Season 2 and Season 3 had the exact same writers and showrunner.
What exactly happened here? Now, I should preface this that I am not a season 2 hater, it has its moments and is better binged than watching weekly, but season 3 is on an entire other level. They even filmed both of...
Overall, I liked Discovery but when comparing it to all of the series, it’s near the bottom for me. I definitely preferred seasons 1 and 2 compared to seasons 3 - 5. I feel that Michelle Paradise was not a strong show runner. Seasons 1 and 2 took chances and were thrilling with great twists...
Excellent episode with some shocking twists. With all the talk about RDM, I thought he was only showrunner for the first 2 seasons, like Outlander (for which he was showrunner for the first 3 seasons). I think he’s busy developing series for Disney’s new Magic Kingdom universe. He probably...
Disappointing series finale. Way too rushed. They could have done the final 4 episode arc well if it was built up the entire season (and written with the quality of seasons 1 - 3). They should have looked at Arrow as an example of how to do a final season. Oh well… can’t say I’m surprised...
Section 31 officially green lit as Paramount + original movie. Filming to start in 2023.

I’ve also seen the finale described, by those who’ve seen it, as Star Trek’s Avengers Endgame. So I’m definitely expecting legacy characters from other shows to be involved, and the ships too.
Posting in what will become a legendary thread:
WOW. What an episode. Don’t have anything new to say that hasn’t already been discussed but this might just be the best Star Trek episode in 24 years.
Tawny Newsome (Mariner) announces she will be a writer on this show:

yes, but if you look on Reddit and other non-Trek sites, people have been pretty meh on The Mandalorian S3, whereas Picard S3 has continued getting rave reviews. I do think Picard has a viewership limit though, since the whole premise would be hard to gain viewers that haven’t watched TNG

I’m very sad about this news but here’s hoping season 5 is an excellent ending. Maybe some of the characters will continue in a spin-off.
