I've been here for quite some time and yes, things are very different nowadays. A couple of years ago, we didn't "hate" or "despise" as many things, episodes, actors or characters as we do now. A couple of years ago, people didn't spend so much time watching and commenting a show they hated...

There's so much bile and bitterness around here, and so little joy and sense of fun. It's really disheartening. It didn't use to be like that. I enjoyed the episode quite a lot.

Art doesn't work like science. You can enjoy your meal even if the napkins aren't color-coordinated with the tablecloth. Sometimes fiction works despite its flaws, sometimes it is more than the sum of its parts, a fact that detail-oriented fans tend to ignore.

I think you're right. Mark Gatiss has a fantastic career, he can write, play dramatic and comedic roles, on camera and on stage, he has directed movies and written novels. I can't see him sacrificing all that for a stint as Doctor Who showrunner. I think we'll end up with a dull BBC...
