If you happen to recall in that post credit scene where she is reading the book, you can hear her children faintly in the background. Alluding to she never gave up or got over her children.

That entire sequence was piss poor writing and the character jumping the shark. That's my issue.

She was in another room because they were conveniently separated. And she figured that he had a past. So she somehow did a Luke Skywalker from the Last Jedi and appeared to Picard to tell him that. But she was getting a nose bleed to show that it was dangerous or something.
