I like this post.... its very true, these nostalgia inducing moments and cameos are clouding the rational thinking about how whats happening on screen makes sense in the context of the universe. I can't help but wonder whats even going on that put everything in this state. Its...
I'm going to bring my thoughts over here as they are more show specific than episode specific. I'm really trying to wrap my head around accepting the state of the Romulans in Picard. It just doesn't seem like its plausible given the power of the romulan empire. One would think the...
Thats a fair point. I didn't take that into account. I guess that since they showed it being built with cranes and construction equipment, so at the very least they were building something more modern. But wheres the rest of the romulan empire? Even if their government collapsed...
See this is the thing. We are not supposed to look at it from the eyes of modern day people looking at the situation because yes, you would be correct in that case because thats who we are. The writers are supposed to be a bit more creative and should be writing it from the perspective...
It still doesn't make sense, the borg incident was resolved with much less loss than it could have been thanks to picard. I think it was generally accepted that the federation was already building ships to deal with the borg at the time the dominion war broke out. It still has to go from...
I enjoyed Sir Patrick Stewards performance in this, he did give off that Picard vibe at times for sure. But I didn't enjoy the episode very much. I'm just having a hard time with the world building as a natural progression of where we left off in DS9 and Voyager. With these gaps in the...
But wouldn't in the pale moonlight was more about sisko making the compromise. The underlying methods of federation in that situation would have resulted in failure to bring the romulans on side. So sisko compromising his values makes it a far more powerful story... imho
Oh i'm sure much of it is, but then getting her to that point needs to still make sense. It means believing that the federation had fallen so much by that point where they denied helping the romulans that it would create that situation where the character turned to those vices to cope with the...
After this episode... I'm really having a problem with using this new federation\starfleet image as a natural progression of the federation\starfleet we last saw in DS9\voyager. In 0x03 when raffi is snapping at picard for living in his fancy house while she lives in her hovel in the...
I enjoyed the episode. 8/10 from me. I don't think we actually saw a real member of the ba'ul (sp)... that seemed like a way to seem more menacing to anyone there... they are probably small weak hamster people.
I also thought the ba'ul (sp) ships were a tad large... but maybe thats all...
I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. There's one thing though that is making me scratch my head though... where is that launch tube for the pods! They traveled through that tube for some seconds. It looked like they were below the launch bay at the start, but it seemed to long...
.... well then:
"Star Trek: Discovery - Season One [Blu-ray]"
Estimated arrival date: December 18, 2018 - January 16, 2019
Seems like a classic case of did not estimate demand properly.
There is so many posts and such lately I'm having a hard time determining if this was already brought up, but the series' first season is almost at a close and I'm still at a loss to determine what the "event" that they said was mentioned in multiple series in the past that discovery would be...
I actually read this whole thread. I think because I was so instantly excited to see a 2017 high budget D7 and was so quickly disappointed I needed to see If i was alone in my thoughts. I'm just going to throw my quick thoughts on all of this. The D7 and in fact all of the Klingon...
I think that it looked ridiculous and I don't like it. Everything about the spinning, the spore stuff, is taking away from the "real" feeling of the universe this show takes place in. To me, it was a science fiction version of 18th century navies. While star trek had magic crystals to...
I decided to choose a 6/10 on this one. I'm finding everything to be very lazy. I've decided by this episode that I don't enjoy the klingon redesign it was a bad idea. The attitudes of the crew is becoming frustrating, its similar to Stargate universe and nuBSG in this regard. I'm...
I just feel it doesn't convey they same sense of progress that the backdrop to the credits is showing. Contemporary soft rock music just does not seem to do it justice in my opinion. Then when they added the faster beat in the later seasons, it fit even less.
For me music needs to...
Re: do most fans like into darkness
Not I.
I would have loved an alternate timeline star trek 'reboot'. However its not really a reboot is it... they clearly show that it was a timeline change at a certain point. So the universe should have remained recognizable, the characters...
