Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x04 - "No Win Scenario"

Now we have a new Riker Maneuver™, so we can forget about the joystick

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x04 - "No Win Scenario"

Okay, totally a stupid thing to get excited about, but did anyone else love that we got a real tractor beam with the right sound effect at the end? I've always thought they look and sound so cool. And I also loved the Wrath of Khan theme kicking in right after T'Veen says the nebula is changing.

Spoilers Star Trek: Picard 3x04 - "No Win Scenario"

I don't want to get too hyperbolic, but a lot of people keep saying this is the best Star Trek in 20 years. I think this may be one of the finest episodes in all of Star Trek. I've been cautiously optimistic about this season, but at this point, I'm all in.

News Star Trek IV Remastered Coming To Theaters Next Month

Saw it tonight and the entire presentation was fantastic. A/V quality was excellent in our theater, and the film looked amazing. They did a great job with the restoration. Can't say for sure, but I think at least some of the vfx shots have been recomposited. I let out an audible "DAMN" during...

[Game] Make a Lower Decks-esque reference joke

Boimler (on the Titan, chatting with the ops officer): Do you ever just wish you could fly at Warp 10 and see what it's like to Tom-Paris your way through infinite points in space-time simultaneously? Ops (indifferent): No. Boimler: Really?! I mean, how amazing would it be to occupy every...

    Opening Credits?

Dusted off my account to say that I watched "The Inner Light" tonight... And the main melody from "Star Trek: Picard" is a note-for-note lift from the episode! It's the tune Kamin's son is playing off-screen in the scene when Kamin is looking through his telescope, about 30 minutes in.

Shaky-cam in space / Visual effects shots

No beauty shots? What about the ship rising out of the ocean, flying towards the volcano, the drawing morphing into the ship, the title card sequence, the starbase shots? Some of them are a little short, but there were definitely some nice beauty shots, and this time they had the ship completely...

    The title card scene! (spoilers)

Re: The title card scene! Hell yes! That was a beautifully-realized sequence. The shot of the Enterprise reminded me of the original series, and it was a classic beauty shot that seemed almost lacking in the last film.

Post here if you actually loved this movie!!

Loved it. Dying to see it again. Anyone else think they put a lot more love into the shots of the Enterprise? I mean, the entire first movie, we barely got anything resembling a full-on beauty shot. In ID, there are several. Flying towards the volcano was awesome, but my favorite is the top-down...

What did you think of the... er.. homage scene? (spoilers)

Okay, so I had been spoiled by a review that got posted claiming it was "spoiler-free", even though it mentioned "an "Iconic scene" being remade. Having seen the trailers, I had a feeling it would be this one. What I did't expect was that it would be Kirk in the chamber. I had also heard...

So... about that black hole right next to Earth...

Black Holes need matter to consume in order to "survive". Once there is no matter falling into the singularity, the black hole "evaporates". Scientists at CERN have actually created momentary artificial singularities, if I'm not mistaken. They are extremely small and only last a split second.

    The budget for STID

Just FYI, the visual effects budget on big summer blockbusters is only about 30% or maybe 40% of the total budget. Cast and Crew fees, licensing agreements, prop and wardrobe, set construction, transportation, and food are all huge pieces of the puzzle. Everyone working on the movie is...

    (SPOILERS!) About the SuperBowl Trailer...

True enough, but for the uninitiated, they made it difficult/nearly impossible to even guess what planet was actually being destroyed.

    (SPOILERS!) About the SuperBowl Trailer...

I really don't see Paramount or Bad Robot spoiling the actual destruction of the Enterprise. Its not like Abrams. The editing of the trailer implies that the ship crashing into San Fransisco bay (and City) is the Enterprise, but we know from careful inspection that it isn't. And I really don't...

    Enterprise battle damage (spoilers)

Expecting Trailer?/Super Bowl Trailer is Live Now [SPOILERS]

The burn marks on the leading edge of the saucer look like they streak back, as if the ship was at high speed when the damage occured. Kinda wondering if the ship was maybe traveling at warp and then the deflector was destroyed. Would certainly explain such heavy damage. And it would be a huge...

TNG Caption This! 301: Fate protects fools children & Caption Contests

Re: TNG Caption This! 301: Fate protects fools children & Caption Cont Picard: Mr. Worf, when I ordered everyone to pick a souvenir before abandoning ship, I meant something like a PADD, or maybe one of the blobby ships on the wall in the lounge.

TNG Caption This! 296: Closer to Punctuality!

Riker: Data, which Casino planet are we on? Worf: Commander, I believe we are on a Western Frontier planet this week. Data: Next week is a bottle show with a time-travel element. Riker: Well then I suppose I'll count this as shore leave. Picard: Mr. Crusher, stare him down. Mr. Data, look...
