Spoilers "Star Trek: Picard" and "12 Monkeys" Comparisons

I really wish I had the means to go there— it seems all so cool. 12 Monkeys and Trek!

Spoilers PIC: Firewall by David Mack Review Thread

Loved the book! I’m pleasantly surprised at the amount of Janeway in this and how in character she is — I admit to be protective of Janeway ever since I found that one book that killed her off — I felt so betrayed by that book and one of the reasons I stopped reading Trek books until recently...

Spoilers "Star Trek: Picard" and "12 Monkeys" Comparisons

Honestly! Yes! Especially once we get all the context! I watched episode 8 of the last season and put on an episode 8 of the first season and with context, my mind was blown. Because on first watch, I didn’t question it, but knowing all the context and going back to it? My jaw dropped.

Spoilers "Star Trek: Picard" and "12 Monkeys" Comparisons

It's a title but I do agree with the recommendation as a 12 Monkeys fan. You can watch or not, personally, if you like time travel and sci fi stories and strong characters, I always recommend 12 Monkeys. The first season is the weakest since its table setting, second season is where the show...

"Star Trek: Picard" Scores at Saturn Awards!

So…. this seems to have become a charged thing — I adored Season 3 of Picard, it was just my style and preference of Trek, and because I’m huge fan of 12 Monkeys and appreciate the pacing and its one of the things I appreciate Terry and his team brought to season 3. Coming from a small fandom...

Wooo! I’m so happy for them!

    News WB/Paramount merger talks

I also just read the article, it does seem that out of the Paramount suitors — Skydance is the most favorable for Trek as a franchise.

The Quickest Path to "Star Trek: Picard"?

I think I’ll also add in “Attached” episode from season 7 of TNG — I just listened to the commentary with Gates McFadden and she specifically name checked the episode as one of the things top of mind for Beverly when she made her decision re: Jack.

The Quickest Path to "Star Trek: Picard"?

I'm not as familiar with TNG, but I have seen Ensign Ro before and loved Michelle Forbes in her other acting roles. In Imposters, I fully fell in love with her character and went back to watch her first episode on TNG: Ensign Ro, and her last episode: Preemptive Strike, and then I consider...

    Ave Verum Corpus

This is a late reply to a year-old question, but it's also another sneaky Easter egg for 12 Monkeys fans (sorry to keep bringing it up). It was the song used in a pivotal moment in 12M's series finale. I also wonder if it is a reference to Seven being a former Borg. Maybe also a nod to Seven's...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

I don't know if I can answer this since I'm not as hardcore a Trekkie and only realized I've only seen the last few seasons of TNG. But: - Voyager - Seasons 4/Season 5 (IMO golden seasons for Voyager). - DS9: Season 5 - Picard: Season 3 - Lower Decks: Season 3 and 4 - Strange New World: Season 1

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

It's possible I misunderstood the meaning of predestination paradox because the 12 Monkeys tv show is a time loop with many iterations, changing slowly until they fix the problem. Just like you said with Fringe seeing the whole picture, it is the same with 12 Monkeys the show. I've never seen...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

I really love that part too. I’ve been rewatching 12 Monkeys and it still holds up so well, there’s always something new I pickup every rewatch; (For example, the music that plays through Olivia’s end, actually plays through every time she’s introduced and its so great how the bootstrap paradox...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

Well, I do get that YMMV. Their whole thing is escaping from the cycle of predestination but I'll stop talking about it now, I just wanted to share how beautifully crafted the story is from character to plot development. I also loved Fringe from way back when although I haven't revisited it in...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

Oh, they were very clear on the predestination paradox -- the characters in season 1 don't know the rules yet, but the writers do. Admittedly, season 1 is the weakest of the 4 seasons and IMO season 2 is where it becomes the show it wants to be but it needed season 1 to build the foundations and...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

Probably, I guess I'm one of the outlier who loves Picard Season 3, who didn't grow-up with TNG, I did watch the movies but Voyager and DS9 were more my Trek. I am also a big fan of Terry Matalas because of his work in 12 Monkeys, which IMO is the best time travel show I've watched.

    Picard film in development

Forgive me. I’m new to this thread so I don’t know the tone, if you’re being sarcastic or not? Has there been reports of animosity between Terry Matalas and Kurtzman? From what I’ve heard from Terry he’s nothing but grateful to Kurtzman, and was one of the people he thanked when he got his...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

I suppose — like I also liked season 1 but the story they were telling was longer than the 10 episodes it had to run with. I do love the quiet moments at the end of season 1. But, there really wasn’t enough runway to tell the story they wanted especially with Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman’s...

Poll Season Three: The Search For Causation

I saw bits of TNG when I was a kid, but not enough to really remember it. I think my first true memory is of it, now that I’m watching TNG because of Picard S3 was I, Borg. And I think the episode when Worf and Troi started dating? The first true Trek I was in and invested in was Voyager. And...
