Would you listen to Big Finish produced trek?

I'd be interested in an audio series either by Big Finish or anyone else. I've listened to the first two Khan episodes so far so good. Maybe we could get Shatner and Takei to do an adventure set during TOS. Just have them record their parts separately.

Classic episodes now considered "lame" - ?!

Maybe the injury from the delta rays make a mind meld impossible.

Is anyone else disappointed by Brothers?

You're right, but usually through crew mistakes, godlike powers, or superior technology not hacking individuals. In this respect they are unique

Is anyone else disappointed by Brothers?

I like Brothers, but if I'm in Star Fleet Command, Data never serves on a starship again. Imagine an enemy starting the homing device during a battle. I'd think the same about Geordi. Wasn't his visor used by Klingons twice?.

    William Shatner’s Finest TOS Performance?

That's a great scene. I think the best scene is his speech to Dehner moments earlier. That's when he claimed the role as his own. I don't think Hunter's Pike could pull off that speech.

Ways that SNW actually improved TOS

I think when Metamorphosis was written, he was intended to be the inventor for everybody.

What's your unpopular opinions on SNW?

Just curious, how far do you take it? The death of a legacy character, not Sam Kirk? Or a change of events such as Una obtaining the captaincy after Pike instead of Kirk? I think Paramount would reject that one.

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

As of now, you're right about La'an, but I'd be shocked if they're not closer in the future. He still kills the Gorn Captain, if he has knowledge of SNW Gorn. It makes sense to observe a possible invader before attacking so their actions regarding Cestus 3 aren't that surprising. The crew's...

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

If Kirk is aware of what the Gorn did in seasons 1 & 2 of SNW, he kills the Gorn Captain especially considering his friendship with La'an ,which I expect to grow closer in the future. The Gorn were on Cestus 3 for at least a day which should be plenty of time to manufacture a radio signal.

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

I don't expect continuity to be flawless either in a new series or in a franchise as old as Star Trek. I couldn't care less about things such as James R to James T Kirk or Vulcanians to Vulcans or even the changes they made in the Trill from TNG to DS9, but this isn't a minor retcon. Pluto TV...

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

I've never denied that both SNW & TOS Gorn are in continuity. I've argued that there is no need for the contradiction. The show runners could have just picked a different name and the story is unchanged. In Arena, the fact that the Enterprise crew is unfamiliar with the Gorn is essential to the...

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

Is it? Have the show runners announced that season 1 of TOS is no longer in continuity? They hinted that it might be in one episode this season, but the official position is that SNW is prequel to TOS. They would be better off severing the two. Each have their own continuity. I think...

    Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

Generic modern bad guys, seemly unbeatable monsters. TOS Gorn may have looked silly, but the story was more interesting, at least so far. Maybe the story ends strong but I'm not optimistic. Frankly, I'm more annoyed that Captain Pike turned into Commodore Stocker. All the TOS continuity...

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Ever since I read Ellison's draft for City on the Edge of Forever, I've thought someone should use the Jewels of Sound on screen. Sound as a drug is an interesting concept. A payment to the Ellison estate is probably necessary.

Spoilers Canon, Continuity, and Pike's Accident

Paramount says it is so it is. I think it would be better in the long run if it wasn't. I like SNW, but it seems more like a sequel to Disco than a prequel to TOS. I grew up with TOS, so I don't want it overwritten or replaced. They seem to be writing themselves in a corner with the possible...

Remember the first Star Trek episode you watched?

I didn't start watching full episodes until the early 70's when I was in elementary school. I have an early memory of my father watching an episode when I was very young. It was Assignment Earth. Kirk and Spock were in regular clothes. I thought that the bridge doors led directly to the...

    What are you reading?

I'm currently reading Dr. Futurity by Philip K. Dick. I'm about 1/3 of the way through. Very interesting so far. The book is 1/2 of an Ace Double.

Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I just re-watched both scenes. Spock is the one who mentioned his parents' professions. However, Kirk does refer to Amanda as an encyclopedia. You can infer that Kirk knew what job each had. He didn't seem surprised by Spock's statement. As for Amok Time, I mis-remembered who made the...
