Carrie Fisher wishes she turned down Star Wars.

Just wanted to point out--while everyone's chiming in with his or her own opinion--that "irregardless" is not a word. The word you may be trying to employ is "regardless."

Looking at the original Star Wars movies I think the only person who came away with any sort of career was Harrison Ford.

Alec Guiness already had a career.

George Lucas did quite well by milking the SW franchise into a withered husk.

John Williams has had quite a career, if I recall correctly.
I believe it's fair to say that most actors never become superstars, and those that are involved in a major success generally go nowhere afterward and end up being belittled by simple-minded folks on the Internet.

the special EFX in way over half the films made in the US wouldn't be without Star Wars and that includes all the Trek shows and films this board was created to talk about.
I think that's overstating it. Close Encounters was in production overlapping Star Wars and utilized similar techniques. Motion control passes with repeatable camera moves were coming, Star Wars or not.

Too fat for Leia?

At the age of 19, Fisher was offered the role of Princess Leia, even though at 5-foot-1 and 105 pounds she was told she was too fat for the part. ..

Too fat???? "Too fat" my ass.

Or maybe the idea was "too fat HER ass." But I don't agree with that, either, whatever the case may be. Besides, I think a certain famous scene from ROTJ pretty much shoots the theory of her being fat straight to bloody hell.

Carrie Fisher is only 5'1"? I had no idea she was so short. That's even shorter than my wife, who is 5'2" and who I mercilessly call "shortie."

Can't you tell? During all of her Celebrity Poker appearances over the last couple of years.

Plus during all of her scenes with Vader and Tarkin in ANH. She was a short little shit.

This reminds me of that quote from Family Guy Blue Harvest when Peter comments that Ford was the only one not hurt by the film.

I remember Mark Hamill had some choice words about that scene...
