What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

It was clear when they made it that they expected Trump to win the coming election. You also had Stewart saying things like (paraphrase) "The time for Star Trek's optimism has passed."
Not true, LIFEFORCE actor. And that above statement was an insulting admission of defeat. But when one's characters surrender very quickly in their pilot episodes to funny-hatted.....no, too easy.

Even as a non-American I could see the ICE storyline in season 2 wasn't an exaggeration even when it was airing.
Hell, there's one line in that dumpster fire season that is far and away the best bit of writing Picard managed to pull off:

"This century? It took off the hood and put on a suit."

Probably one of the most succinct descriptors of what we're seeing in America of late.

I usually skip "It's a Wonderful Life" at Christmas for the same reason. I admire George Bailey's selflessness and decency greatly, and hope that if I ever face a similar situation, I will do the same things he did... but that doesn't mean I enjoy watching him get pummeled.
