Now that some time has passed and nobody else has done it for us, can we tell something definite about the S31 ship types assembled to capture the Sphere Data?

Here is the fleet surrounding our heroes in that intimidating 2D formation. We can tell there are three distinct types present:

    1) The "main adversary ship", of which NCIA-93 is an example, with twin folding nacelles
    2) The big four-naceller, of which some specs briefly appear on the main viewer, too
    3) The big two-naceller to lower right, with a roll bar and some white features on top

Essentially, the third is the second with the top nacelles omitted - almost. There are other angles to it to demonstrate the top nacelles really are missing, but also to show the difference in the ventral pylons, and the presence of the roll bar. This ship launches drones; it's possible this is the only ship to do so.

Is number three also the ship that fires the torpedo that hits the Enterprise? That ship's nacelle count was left obscure, but it had a large cutout within the bow, Vengeance style. Do the four-nacellers have it? Does number three?

Do we have better images? I haven't seen accurate interpretations of number three anywhere, even if number one already sports a good set of tabletop models, concept drawings and whatnot.

They should be all black and about mid sized. Should not look like anything to look like a Starfleet ship. Other ships should not be able to detect them and if they do, they should put a fake ID so they think it’s one of the enemies of the Federation. Maybe utilising the holo tech seen in Enterprise

The latter is interesting in seemingly showing more than three classes. The "main baddie" ship with the two clickety-clack nacelles is the small one - but a larger ship with two dorsal nacelles and two ventral fins is also shown, not merely a scaled-up diagram but a ship of distinct shape with a hull more like that of the four-nacellers. Nothing of the sort was seen in the actual battle AFAIK.

The bigger two-naceller does have that hole in the bow, though, it seems - just like the "command ship" that fired the drones and the big torpedo, except that one had ventral nacelles and no fins on the opposite side. The "command ship" is not represented in this diagram.

Then there are small four-nacellers, although it's difficult to tell if they are just smaller images of the big ones, or a distinct type. They do appear to have a more compact wedge hull, farther aft and with less of a stem sticking aft. Again, not easily spotted in the actual battle.

The diagram need not be "incorrect", of course: some ships are yet to arrive at that point (and fewer than 31 are indeed shown), and perhaps one feature of these ships is the ability to look a bit false on Pike's screens!

I still wonder if the VFX team didn't implement all these designs after all. Supposedly, it would be a case of kitbashing, with little in the way of detail or texture to worry about. And since the fight is such a mess, a lot of stuff could go unseen. Our good shots of the S31 fleet from the early stages never show more than twenty ships; when the fight is on, the battlefield is simply obscured by pretty lights.

Those nacelle assemblies really are weird. What's with the frame that slides out aft from the main pylon after the nacelles fold up, say?

I just wonder where to get good ones of the four-naceller and the command ship. Hopefully, Eaglemoss gets there eventually - they have already done really obscure stuff.
