If you were Janeway and could pick one additional crewmember from the other series...

I would pick Spock, too. But not for getting them home earlier or tricking Q into helping them. I'd love to see his interactions with Tuvok. Spock's scientific knowledge would be priceless for Janeway. Spock can handle all those emotional beings. It would be funny for Neelix to have two Mr. Vulcans. ;) :vulcan: :vulcan:.

Geordie LaForge.

A professionally trained (not just intuitive) engineer than Torres, he would have served the ship better from the position of chief engineer. IMO being a more knowledgeable and conservative engineer than Torres he would have argued against wasting resources on ultra-fast drives (which originally kill nearly the entire crew), and warp ten experiments. At the same time he would have gotten the best performance possible out of the existing engines.

I believe he would have also have fairly quickly fixed the replicator.

There's a significant number of people who would have prevented the stupidity that ruined the Barzan wormhole in False Profits. Odo would have prevented the Ferengi from escaping the cell, other Captains might not have meddled in what they were doing to begin with and just took the wormhole home the moment they stabilized it.

Bashir might have become obsessed with curing the Phage and might have actually succeeded. I'd say, unless you're counting who would have prevented stupid crap that kept them in the DQ in False Profits, you go with Bashir because medical is their most understaffed department. He always wanted to practice 'Frontier medicine', after all.

Also, having Data would have given them a loophole in Threshold, allowing them to come in contact with the AQ four years earlier.

I would pick a new first officer. Here are the candidates:

Tuvok (recruit Worf as the new security chief)
Kira (who gets drafted into Starfleet somehow and wears a Starfleet uniform)
Jadzia Dax (promoted upon joining the Voyager crew)
Data

I would NOT pick Riker. I like Riker. He was my favourite character when I was young and watching TNG on its original run.
However, I can't see him and Janeway clicking.

Janeway: I'm going to lead the away team.
Riker: The captain should stay on the bridge.
Janeway: I didn't ask for your input, Commander.
Riker: but you're the captain and should stay on the ship.
(Janeway leads the away team and leaves Riker on Voyager).

Next episode
Janeway: I'm going to take an away team down to rescue Harry from the Viddeans (spelling?)
Riker: Captain, it's too dangerous. I won't let you do it.
Janeway: Commander, you are relieved of duty and confined to your quarters.
(She leads the away team and rescues Harry. When she returns, she restores Riker to duty without any explanation of why she did so.

This brings back the whole Riker / promotion argument, because god, by this point in the series, there is no way I could imagine Riker as her SUBORNINATE.... in that position, he should be able to pull rank and take over the ship in the Delta Quad, but .... he doesn't have the rank to do it......

Janeway: I'm going to lead the away team.
Riker: The captain should stay on the bridge.

Riker: but you're the captain and should stay on the ship.
(Janeway leads the away team and leaves Riker on Voyager).

I know this isn't even Janeway dialogue but ... man, I hate what they did with Janeway.

I'd like to know what exactly.
I had some feeling on the not so good side for years and so I am interested in hearing other's perspective.

I'd say Jadzia Dax.
Firstly, her presence would have feminism a little bit more the major cast (I remind that there were 3 female representants for 5 male representants),
Secondly, as a Trill having lived varied lives, her experience & wisdom would have brought a good balance with Tuvok and even Chakotay,
Thirdly, her open-minded spirit & kindness would allow her to get well with everyone.

And a counselor would habe been welcome too, regardless the gender, ... even if Kes would have been perfect in this role.

I like Tom Paris just fine but it would've been something if Janeway recruited Ro out of that New Zealand penal colony. We may have seen something resembling the Janeway/Seven dynamic from the start. I believe Forbes was approached by the producers but didn't want to commit to a series, which is understandable.

IMO Ro would've been a perfect fit for the premise. The conflict is built in and the character was an established fan fav, played by a strong actor. Her addition would've added extra sheen to the "golden age." It's a shame it didn't work out.

Lenara Kahn might have made a good addition. She would have all the advantages of other Trill characters, but she would also bring a maturity comparable to Janeway's that would not threaten command (as Kahn wasn't in Starfleet). Moreover, putting her on the show wouldn't be awkward: she was experimenting with creating artificial wormholes.

Further bonus: the actress, Susanna Thompson, had experience around the Voyager set.

I will probably be the only one to ever say this, but I'd pick Dr. Phlox. Him and the EMH together would be an absolutely fantastic team! And, I think he would be a brilliant counselor.
