Rare Photos: July/August 2017

So I have some news about the future of Rare Photos. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this will be the last edition of the bi-monthly (July/August) method of doing them. Starting in September, we'll be doing them monthly again. Wait, what? Yeah you read that right. Starting next month it's new rare photos every month again for the next few years! Scared you, didn't I? ;) Those unforeseen circumstances happen to be a wealth of new material that's let me lay out future articles for 18 months ahead of time and in progress beyond that for another year.

So with that announcement out of the way, here's the last bi-monthly issue... ;)

Favorites:
1st Row, Left: Handsome portrait of Admiral Kirk from The Search for Spock.
2nd Row, Left: A smiling and happy B'Elanna/Roxann Dawson in Engineering.
4th Row, Left: Newspaper/Print ad poster (with space to add date and time depending on syndication market) for the series finale special retrospective "Journey's End" hosted by Jonathan Frakes.
5th Row, Left: behind the scenes Odo in diseased (or tortured?) make-up. I lean towards this being final chapter diseased because the torture makeup from "Die is Cast" had a more orange tint but I'm not 100% certain.

Which are your favorites?

It's funny how almost all the shots from that early DS9 cast appearance have blown-out lighting, pretty much obscuring the fact that Terry was wearing the forehead prosthetic they originally planned on using. (Not the full "Odan" style, the more subdued version they experimented with before nixing it and going with spots.)

Very cool to see a good quality photo from the Star Trek 5 bridge toast. The actual event was painful to watch, but it makes for a nice photo. :) (Interestingly, even though this is clearly from the promo event, it doesn't actually match any of the video footage. Must have been snapped during a moment removed in editing.)

It's definitely from The Die is Cast. I assume the sculpt was re-used for the disease make-up, but this can be shown to be the torture make-up due to specific wound placement, and the hand make-up was done differently for when he was diseased. (The sculpted "scales" weren't re-used, they went for a more layered flake look.) The disease make-up also didn't have the blackened necrotic paint job.

Where and how can I get photos posted here?? Have some great shots from Star Trek Las Vegas Con. Can you help?

Fantastic. I especially liked the "behind the scenes" shot of the big 7 cast from Undiscovered Country, and the shot of the First Contact corridor with the dead Borg strewn about. Thanks for letting us know that these will be coming out every month going forward, that is great news.
