Just wondering if anybody would know what the value of a COMPLETE set of the Hallmark SHIP ornaments still in boxes would be?

See what they are going for on Ebay.

Refine your search for completed/sold items.

Check other sites as well, as eBay prices are sometimes all over the place. For example, a rather notorious TOS fanzine has been listed by some for under $20, while other sellers have listed it for over $300.

I'll tell you; it won't be near what you're hoping for or spent on it...

The days of $400 for a 91 1701 are long gone. $100-125 is about the max normal now.

Another problem? I don't think the old ones that need to be plugged into the X-mas tree lights will run off LED lights; only the old style ones. Not 100% sure on that.

Also, be careful not to advertise yours as a "complete" collection of ships if you don't have the San Diego Comic Con exclusives, or you'll technically be misrepresenting yourself. SDCC has has 2 or 3 (or more?) exclusive variant ships that FUBAR'd my complete collection (all ornaments; every single blessed one - until I learned of those SDCC ones!)

Thank goodness, too. It wasn't until prices dropped considerably that I could make up ornaments that I missed or replaced those that became damaged.

You are correct. Luckily, it is still very easy picking up strings of standard Christmas lights to be able to plug them in.

These are the ones that I don't have because the prices are quite high due to their limited availability.

Are the SDCC ornaments official HallmarkĀ® products?

I do not have the SDCC ships that is why I was asking about Hallmark only. (Unless they were available thru Hallmark)

Yeah, they're official Hallmark ornaments. They're variants of the normal ones. Like the USS Kelvin (nuTrek) - the SDCC exclusive is "battle damaged" or the Lt. Uhura one from a few years back, the SDCC exclusive variant had her in Gold uniform she wore once or twice, rather than normal red.

There are a few others, too. The TOS era Defiant, with a green glow...

They're all official Hallmark. Just limited like hell. Some to as few as 400. Those are the expensive ones.

In other words, everyone else whose tried to have a "complete collection" all these years? FUBAR. Dream destroyed unless you're rich enough to blow $500 on an ornament for things like the Defiant, or $200 for that Kelvin...

I'm glad I picked up that Kelvin. Very good quality.

Has anyone ever interviewed the artists who made them?

Those exclusives FUBAR'd 15+ years of collecting for me. I only started in 1997. Feel awful for anyone who began in 1991 to do a "complete" collection, only to get bent over by such BS in the last few years.:klingon:

    Ah well.

    I really do not know . . .
I think it would be impossible to put any kind of accurate value on a complete collection - other than what they would have been at their original price. As one poster mentioned, too many variables when consulting eBay.
I've been collecting ornaments since 1991, but only the original series ones.
I find it interesting that in many cases, TOS related items on eBay are often, on average, more expensive/valuable than other incarnations.
