Female Starfleet Uniforms

I am a leg man, and I can say with authority that while the miniskirts were certainly silly, all the Trek TOS women had good legs!

Hit the brakes...

Not seeing a problem with her legs. The "gender equality" factor may be an issue, but only with benefit of hindsight.

P.S.: Of course he was really there, but Chekov looks like he's been photoshopped into that frame. His feet don't seem to touch the ground quite right.

Yeah, that's not one of their better-staged scenes, but they had so many good ones, I'll give them a pass. Thanks for the screencaps.

Here's another fad example: a sci-fi show and everyone in the future has tattoos similar to ours now.

(And I don't mean "dee plane, dee plane.")

Yeah, I just noticed that. Probably just a trick of the light, but Chekov looks as if he's levitating about a foot off the ground. :wtf:

The female uniforms from TOS are awesome. I was glad to see them return for the Abramsverse.

Definitely a nice turn from the prudish no skin/no skirts/everyone cover up even if you're in exercise wear that permeated the Berman-era. *shiver*

With that said, it was also cool to see variations of the female uniform in TOS - I think we should have seen a variation for males as well - which was either pants/tunic or the skirt/boots uniform. Again, another thing the Abramsverse also got right in the films.

The thing to shiver about is the alternative...the wisely abandoned Season 1 man skirt.

I never got the hate for the skant. It's no worse than seeing someone in shorts. Funny how it's okay to see women's legs but not men's. Sorry, ladies, nothing to see here, because apparently male fans can't face seeing some skin they don't want to drool over.

Well, I don't hate the skant..I just wouldn't be comfortable running around in nothing but a very short dress. That's what pants and shorts are for. ;) But that's just me.

The hem line of the TOS females uniform miniskirts changes (it seems) from actress to actress. This might need a study/photo essay.

I don't mind the skin, it was just that the skant was ugly, ugly, ugly. No man looked good in it with their ankle boots.
I'd a hundred times rather see some guy in shorts.

I'd even rather see (gasp) Shatner in his red workout pants than any guy in the skant.

For all we know the miniskirt/skant was a unisex uniform for a century before we saw it in the 2360s, we just never saw it on screen in TOS :)

Having seen enough guys in kilts, the skant uniform doesn't really bother me. As an armchair historian, the skant also reminds me of Greco-Roman styles as well.

But, yes, the ankle boots didn't help.

Sorry for my ignorance , but what is this skant to which you refer? I don't recall it? Frankly, I've a kilt (Scottish blood, mind you) so I'm used to ...er...l men in skirts. ;-)
